うちの叔父が、一式陸攻のパイロットだった。ジェット特攻機の桜花積んで、沖縄戦で飛び立って逝った。 鹿屋基地に家族で慰問に行ったら、入り口で警備兵に女は入れないと門前払いされたが、ベロベロに酔った特攻隊員に、警備兵に入れてやれ！と激怒して、家族は中に入れもらえた。 多くの特攻隊員は、酔っていて、何で俺が死なないといけないんだ！とふてくされていた。 そもそも特攻機を積む一式陸攻も飛べば、もうグラマンにボコボコにされて、即死。 作戦もへったくれもなかった。ただ、死あるのみ。 ひとつ言えるのは、切れごととか、カッコよさなんてないし、特攻隊員が、家族にあてた手紙も美しい事が、書いてるけど、検閲されてんだから、きれいごとしか書けない。 やっぱり、やり切れなかったのでしょう。 ウチの茶の間には、今でも、戦死した叔父さんと恋人との写真が飾ってある。
