Finally, a video of someone who actually knows how to paddle a solo canoe! Owned a Guide once and just purchased a Freedom Solo (built during one of the good years - 2013 - after they brought Jim Henry back in 2011 to ensure quality control (prior to Dagger, et al, buying in 2015). Great boats and one that a paddler with an intuitive J-stroke/pitch stroke can track it well with the paddle. If you are a sit and switch paddler this will be a frustrating boat for you. Stick with straight-tracking Wenonahs.

Thank you, I'd pretend I was gifted, but it's down to good coaching and countless hours of practice. The guide is a lovely boat, wish Mad River would buy more T-formex and bring some of their old boats back. I hear you on those quality control problems though, the UK got some badly moulded hulls, then the importer would mangle them further with poorly fitted hardware, fortunately this one seems to be the right shape.

What does the guide weigh??

I've never weighed this one, but Mad River used to claim 25kg (55lb), manufacturers tend to stretch the truth a little, but I don't think that figure is too far wrong. If you're planning on a long portage it would need a yoke fitted, but carrying it a few hundred yards from the river to the car is easy enough without one.
