This entire album really showed how insanely talented Layne was as a singer and brilliant lyricist. These guys were absolutely perfect together. Oh very true, I totally understand depression and addiction and a lot of us get better with therapy and support. This album is a masterpiece but let’s not forget any of AIC’s albums and EP’s rank among the best of the 90’s. All of them. His songs hit you hard knowing his fate. He was closer to the end and the lyrics reflected it with Mad Season. Going from God Am to Wake Up is a huge emotional slide in a very short period of time.

Mike mccready is easily one of the most underrated guitarist of all time. I love his work with PJ but he really shines on this album and the temple of the dog album in particular. “Reach Down” by TOTD, “Wake Up” and “Lifeless Dead” on Above is some of this best work If you ask me. That’s not even mention the epic guitar solo is “Alive” and the beautiful acoustic work in “immortality” by PJ . Long live Mike! RIP Layne and John. This album is truly perfect.

How is it that I feel fine? This is great! Laynes Voice dominates the whole thing but I like their harmonies too! Mark Lanegans more of a tenor and Laynes a soprano, I think. This whole concert is great! It’s feels almost like Laynes alive again to see him in his prime here. Wow! Laynes Back at least for this show he is!

A soprano is very, very high, and usually a woman. Layne is a tenor and Mark a bass/baritone
