भूतनि भूतैः परिदुर्बलानि
वृद्धिँ समायाति यथेह पुँसः।
अन्नाम्बुपानादिभिरेव तस्मात्
न तेस्ति वृद्धिर् न च तेस्ति हानिः॥
bhutani bhutaih paridurbalani
vriddhim samayati yatheha pumsah|
annambupanadibhireva tasmat

त्वम् कँचुके शीर्यमाणे निजोस्मिन्
तस्मिन् देहे मूढताँ मा व्रजेथाः।

Dear Gauri, I have listened to all available versions of Madalasa Upadesha on KZbin and yours - to me - is the best sung. I am a student of Sanskrit and vedic literature and have studied the relevant part of Markandeya Purana. I notice that all singers (most of them foreigners who can't read Sanskrit Devanagari script) have made errors in the text (lyrics). (By the way you have given credit to Gaia Sanskrit for the original - but the original belongs to Rishi Markandeya!) In your rendition too, I find several errors, which a Sanskrit scholar close to you can spot and help you correct. Words and grammar are very important in vedic tradition. Some examples for reference: (a) in the third stanza first line the correct word is वै स्वजन्मा (b) there in the second line the correct word is शब्दोऽयमासाद्य....and there are some more. Please et me know if you need my assistance to correct the errors. It will be nice if you could upload a corrected version. Namaste and wish you the best.

Dear Paisa Panchayat, please clear my one doubt regarding this madalasa upadesha, I have संक्षिप्त मार्कण्डेय पुराण from गीता प्रेस and in that the उपदेश starts with शुद्धोसि रे तात stanza, nowhere I could find शुद्धोषी बुद्धोसी निरंजनोसी

@@anjanadwivedi1907 Anjanaji, You got it right. I have checked Gita Press (I think it is the most reliable source) as well as other older publications. The first stanza popularised by the Western singer Gaia is of spurious origin, a latter addition. It does have a good meaning, though.

I have listened to this many times. I have very little undestanding of Sanakrit or Puranas, so can't comment about the mistakes, but the rendition is pure bliss not to talk about the depth of idea dealt up on. Some of the lines simply filled me with a kind of unknown realization. But I feel the translation is a bit incomplete. Thank you sister❤

I studied Sanskrit at the basic level. Clearly few could compare the manner in which Gauri has sung this sacred hymn. Sanskrit along with its twin Avestan is the oldest surviving Aryan (Indo-European) language surely the mother of all Aryan languages.

It influenced many languages all over India including dravidian languages many aryan languages have lost the sanskrit phonological and grammatical signs and sounds but dravidian languages still preserve it like kannada and telugu you will find many old sanskrit words still in use in modern day
