Thank you, very pretty! Unfortunate for the TCR-thing to cover up the thing. Isn't it possible with our modern technics to leave it away?

🎥🎞️Hello,🧚♀️ a silent 🎎 Madame Butterfly 🦋 🎭starring Mary Pickford. It's a gentle, warm and dramatic interpretation.

oh my gosh! she drown herself because of a broken heart! what a lonely story. the lesson for the viewers was never trust a person too quickly, know his life and family background first before accepted him for marriage. curse that Pinkerton! what a fool guy!

Fun fact : Mary Pickford was angry with the director of this film because she was too American to play a Japanese girl .

Even it is only a film, it is good that Cho Cho San never give up her child because she's a mother.

don't look at the TCR just focus on the scenes! it's ok if the numbers below are blocking the lower scenes because this device give us a chance to watch my idol's oriental film!

Sorry, this is very Strange to me. Cho-Cho san was born rich, but at this moment she was a 15 year old Maiko-san. Her father was a middle class Samurai but he had to kill himself some years before. When Japanese ladies wear kimono, they carry themselves so well. May I recommend "Madama Butterfly (1955CINEMA)"

Ruth Gordon is somewhere in this movie.

Shame we have to look at TCR and the time coving up these clips. Totally unnecessary.

+JapanFile; saying this is a look at 'Gautam through Western eyes' - right after explaining the story of this production is a bit disingenuous. It's more accurate to say it's Ms Pickford's view - because THAT'S what it IS (your DID say Olcott was 'upset and walked off the picture', didn't you? He walked off because Ms Pickford wouldn't do what she was SUPPOSED to. It also wouldn't be fair (but, hell; that doesn't stop anyone) Ferrum judging Ann earlier time with today's mores (I'm referring in this case to using white actors rather than Asian), and lest you forget, one of the best - and best-known actors of this period was Ms Anna May Wong.

The 'Madame Butterfly' plot is a film adaptation of Giacomo Puccini's Opera of the same name.

But why didn’t she want to act oriental

Her acting was fine an appropriate. But I have seen the opera many times. A 40 year old American, playing a 15 year old japanese girl who sings in Italian. Im used to a few incongruities!
