My son in law was in subs in Silverdale, wa bangor. He did it for 16 years. They would go out for 6 mo. At a time submerged. He was on the Alaska. He retired after 25 years.

My brother was on those for over 30 years. He loved it in fact he missed it when he retired from the Navy. If I remember right he served for 38 years.

I got pictures of me and my brothers at the Alabama and drum exhibit in the early 70s. My dad took us to Disneyland and they were just building space mountain. After that we went to his house in Pensacola for a while. Did some fishing and museum tours. When I was on the drum it was still in the water.

I could never go on a tour of that … way too claustrophobic! So, thanks for taking us along. I’m looking forward to seeing inside the Battleship! 🥰

Hello, Madam Mayor and Brett. Thank you for taking us on this tour My uncle was a Navy man. but he was on the ship. My true love was also a Navy man, and he was in a sub. Mike ran off and joined the Navy after I ran out and married someone else. Big mistake on my part. But Mike had told me that the Navy is not for everyone, especially. being in a submarine. He would be out for months and months at a time.

Several years ago our son got married on a beach down there. It blew away in the hurricane (recieved a LOT of damage). On the way back to Mississippi where they lived at the time, we stopped and did the self tour of the sub. and ship outside. Didn't realize there was even a museum there to visit. It was interesting to see both. Not sure I would be able to live on a sub. Have a cousin that spent his Navy career on one though. My son was in the Navy at the time we were there. Unfortunately (or fortunately :>)) that marriage didn't last but he is now married to a wonderful lady and they have two beautiful boys and are visiting till next week for Christmas.

When I was younger, I would not have a problem going into a submarine. Since my last hospitalization I get anxiety in closed spaces.😢😢
