Thanks for this little tutorial to sketch with charcoal. I tried it yesterday and lost the bright tones but now it seams to be clearer. Thanks!

Thank you. If you please: What paper are you using and what size? I am learning volumes in utilizing Vine Charcoal and a kneaded eraser on "white" paper, re: values, edges, mark making (you talked about this). I now know why this medium has been around and loved for thousands of years.

This is brilliant my friend. Truly inspiring, you help me to keep pushing on. FYI I think this is a great piece regardless of being a tutorial. Also where is the big bag of willow from, I didn’t see it on the website last I checked. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Once the drawings are finished how do you stop them from being smudged and ruined?

They're often confused but coal and charcoal are two different things coal is a mineral and charcoal is wood, however dust from charcoal can be harmful to lungs with continued exposure his studio is likely well ventilated enough that he doesn't inhale much. People who work in the manufacturing of charcoal would be more likely to need protection to prevent chronic lung issues.
