CFB25 sold more copies than any game in sports history. They will ride that train for at least 5 to 10 years. 2k will not get in the bed with the NFL. Those days of multiple developers having a sports line are over. 2k has the WWE and the NBA. They can barely handle those. Yo Moody! From playing the 1st Madden on console and being so EXCITED, then to being more excited about Madden's evolution. Then, in the mid 90's they slowed their progression. By the end of the 90s, Madden lost all its consistency in progression as different developers never built on previous titles. Then 2k saved us for almost a decade until that dreaded day of the exclusive license. For pro football, we have to go back in time just to ENJOY a great game. Just grab 2k8, 2k5, 2k4, etc, and BOOM, great football!! Coach mode and all!!!!!!

Sure some of that is because of other failures like Dragon Age, but that's a drop in the bucket. Their business model is completely dependent on what their sports games bring in, and they have refused to invest in those products to make them better. Do I think they're going anywhere? No, unfortunately not, but FIFA already backed out of an exclusive agreement, NFL is hopefully next, they should be absolutely pissed that the College Football game is not only a better (albeit marginally IMO) product, but it outperformed Madden. Stocks going down 15-20% in an instant is not good, just look at Ubisoft and how their products have fared recently.

This is what happens when you (the company) prioritize greed over quality product... of course, some of us (myself included) saw this happening from many years in the past. Out of all the studios and games EA owns, they could have had 7 or 8 strong franchises going AT ONCE, alongside their sports games if they just put some of their profit into the games instead of their pockets... and that wouldn't count any of the other games that'd be considered as one offs or what have you. This is endemic of not just EA, but the NFL brand in general. Their game sucks, their broadcasting product sucks, their refereeing sucks, and the product on the field is nowhere near as good as it once was in years past. I have not bought Madden in close to ten years and I have watched less NFL branded football than I ever have in my 43 years of life. This is the first year in my life that I won’t be watching the Super Bowl. I have no interest in it due to a league that values stars over competition and refereeing that I cannot trust is being fair and balanced. As for EA, it’s not just the subpar product, it’s the arrogance and flippant attitude of Clint towards it’s customers and the fact that they routinely advertise the game in what I believe is a manipulative and dishonest manner.
