The "dog visits owner's grave" one is a direct reference to the story of Greyfriar's Bobby, a famous story from Edinburgh, Scotland. The dog, which was almost identical to the one here, used to visit its owner's grave after he died. Many years ago. I guess this was put in because some of the developers were from Scotland.

Instead of the Sewer Monster, I'd rather you shown off the little Jest to the Ratman in the sewers. You can find legitimate Claw Marks inside the sewers, and i believe some of the NPCs talk about it subtlety. Considering the Community have made Rumors about Mythical Creatures for GTA throughout the series longevity, Rockstar did go back and add several of them to GTA5 as a Homage. Such as Bigfoot being a Playable character, but only during a special mission. Likewise, i believe their's a Door you can find in one of the subways, which directly talks about Mothman as well.
