This much Dufex is one spot is amazing!!! I’m really bummed it never made its way into other medias like wallpaper or t shirts!!! I would proudly use both. Great collection Brian!

Thanks, Joe! Yes, Dufex really screams “90s”! It’s a shame other companies haven’t revived the technology, but from what I’ve read it’s apparently prohibitively expensive and time consuming to create cards like that. I would absolutely hang a Dufex poster on my walls, too!

Amazing run of Dufex goodness, Brian! You know I love this! Nice job again Low-Pop! 🤛🏻

Thanks, Brent! It’s been a fun run to track down and put together! Just like refractors, I’m a huge fan of Dufex technology, so this was a natural “run” for me to pursue. Glad you enjoyed it!

@@HighPopProfessor I believe you hit most, I would need to cross reference with subsets and inserts sets that included Maddux vs not (don't know off top of my head for him) I have my Griffey Dufex master list in post below, but should record all the Dufex sets cross referenced with star players of the 90s

Great vid on Dufex, appreciate it! Such a great collection and cool that Maddux fits so well with the Dufex era. I have that '95 Team Dufex with Griffey and Bonds with the Griffey (A.L.) Dufex side. Oddly, the Bonds (N.L.) Dufex is pretty tricky to find. Again, really fun vid!

I always loved the “Team Pinnacle” inserts! The first couple years weren’t Dufex though, but they were still awesome! There’s something right about Griffey and Bonds Dufex cards! I should look into getting that one! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Brian, what about the 97/98 Leaf Fractal Matrix set? Leaf fell under the Pinnacle parent brand, right?

It’s tricky - some sets have gorgeous etched foil that is Dufex-adjacent (Like 97 Pinnacle Totally Certified Platinum reds, blues, golds), but not TRUE Dufex.

great lesson in the duflex technology, Brian!
@HighPopProfessor28 күн бұрын
Thanks, Mookie! It’s sad that Topps CAN make cards with this technology, but chooses not to. Again, I point to the lack of competition with licenses as one of the primary contributors to stagnation and lack of innovation in the hobby.

If you haven't picked up a copy yet, one of my all time favorite Dufex cards is the 1993 Select Rookie/Traded Nolan Ryan Tribute card -- such an amazing concentric circle Dufex design with perfect mid stride image of Ryan and his complete career stats on the reverse!
@HighPopProfessor29 күн бұрын
I had that card! My copy was in a weird slab that I wasn’t happy with, so I moved it along, but it’s a GREAT tribute card! I have a Ripken Dufex tribute from 94 Select, and at one point I pulled a massive (at the time it was $100) ROY Tim Salmon Dufex case hit. 8-year old me was floored! 😂
@Dufex_of_Life29 күн бұрын
@@HighPopProfessor The 1994 Select Salute Ripken? that's a nice one; I love his 96 Topps 2131 Tribute card - i have the chrome refractor version but the base was one of my favorites of his to pull as a kid; That Salmon was Boss! perhaps the best fish-named Angel player...lolol

I feel the same! And it wasn’t just Dufex that made Pinnacle amazing, either! When you consider all the other innovations and sets they were experimenting with, it’s incredible! Combining refractor holofoil with gold foil etching in Pinnacle Certified Mirror Gold Team, cross-product stealth inserts in the form of Epix and Donruss Crusades, Coins in Pinnacle mint, Metal cards in pinnacle x-press metal works and Donruss preferred precious metals, cards in tins, cans, and 8x10 envelopes, crazy die cuts and material innovations with the fractal matrix & materials set, lenticular cards via sportflix, and hyper rare variants of cards like in Score Stand and Deliver, Score Platinum Team Premier Club, and super tough promos like Aficionado First Pitch Previews… the list goes ON! Anything with the phrase, “Artist’s Proof” on it, we have Pinnacle to thank for.

Great Video! Hey, by 1997 Pinnacle owned Donruss, and I think (or feel) they put Dufex on a couple of their cards, namely the '97 Donruss Preferred Set cards! Yeah the ones in the TIN! The edges of the cards have the '97 Pinnacle Totally Certified Foil on the outside that shows on the Platinum and Gold Versions best! Speaking of 1997 Pinnacle Totally Certified Maddux cards..... That /30 Platinum gold WOW!!

I LOVE the Donruss Preferred set, and yes, they were a Pinnacle brand after 97. They had some beautiful etched foil parallels, die cuts (fractal matrix & materials too!), and inserts, but none of them were “true Dufex” like Score Select or Pinnacle had. Same with the Platinum Gold /0030 - gorgeous etched foil, but (thankfully 😅) not a true Dufex release. Thanks for watching, John!

@@HighPopProfessor I think you're right. just the totally certified surface looks so similar to the original Cooperstown Foil, but without that radiant dufex color blast! Oh I thought the '94 Church's chicken show stoppers insert set had a Dufex Maddux, but they didn't unfortunately.
