Impressive and amazing accomplishment! Congrats getting roof done pretty much on your own with help from your family. Was hoping you’d have some help with laying the plywood down. Glad you had some dry weather, but with freezing temps! Can’t wait to see the windows and it all dried in. A welcome and needed shop to be out of the weather. We’ll done!

Birds are Sandhill Cranes. They are a site to see when they fly over. We see thousands each year flying both ways. Enjoy it because its something people just don't appreciate. Barn build looks good and yeah everyone makes mistakes. Just fix and move on is all anyone can do. Keep pushing forward!

We wanted a light color but definitely wanted it to blend into the scenery as a main goal. I love a “big red barn” but this scenery deserves to have center stage and a bright colorful barn would take away from that.

When I saw you installing the Sheeting Clips, it reminded me of when my parents were building their reirement mountain cabin, they built the 4 car w/ mudroom garage first. The inspector* came out to look at the sheeting, he halted the construction as we didn't have the sheeting clips installed locking the panels together. (This was in the late 80's) Dad had to pull up the sheeting and get those clips installed for the re-inspection. I think you cutting nailes and adjusting the truss was probably easier! Nice job on getting the roof on. *Amador County, CA

Mark I know you’re very proud and thankful for the help and all that you’ve accomplished this year and in a bitter cold. You’re a true spirit among the many, and after a setback, you calmed your mind and went with your heart that told you to correct it and getter done. From my point of view, if many people worldwide had your heart, the world could accomplish anything. You’re a brave heart, be well, be safe, be happy with your life. Much love to you and Ola and your precious family.❤ congratulations on your new roof🎉🥰

Goes to show if you take fear out of the situation you can move mountains...you and your son scaled that roof like it was 2nd nature to work that high up. So glad you were able to get the roof on and finished so you could take some time off to relax with the family for a couple of days. Look forward to the rest of the build. You are a real champion there with your mountain. When she calls out you step in and show her how things are going to be done.

Best to make the mistake here, rather than with half the metal on the roof! It’s not easy to build something this large basically by yourself, with occasionally others helping out. I built a large two story house that way. I like your determination.

Hey Mark, don't feel to bad about it, at least you caught it before you got to far on the roof. After getting out of the Army, I became a carpenter & spent years building houses, & to this day I still occationally make mistakes if I get in a hurry or have other things on my mind. I got them from Home Depot where I bought the ladders. The ladders are Werner and the ladder jacks are made by them as well as the scaffold plank. I first bought them when I built the cabin and needed them for the siding and soffit.
