Ngl I highkey fw Kathleen like if we’re being real all of the people in Kansas City were living in a horrible oppressive environment and so they started the resistance knowing that it could result in horrible torturous punishment. Henry and Sam’s situation was unfortunate but Henry should’ve just been with Sam and supported him until he passed. Instead, he ratted out someone that tried to help him and a person truly working for a good cause and then tried to say that sacrificing the entire resistance was worth it for Sam. I personally was rooting for Kathleen up until she tried to kill Ellie because Joel and Ellie killed those people in self defense.

@@gladiusexe3870 My thoughts exactly. People immediately bagging on Kathleen like she's a one-dimensional evil character was really annoying me. The cycle of revenge is a theme of The Last of Us and this was a great example of it.

​@albegrato Nah though, because as the youngest of 3 brothers myself, my oldest one sounds JUST like hers (comforted me during rainstorms when I was little, excellent leader with a big heart, understanding, etc.) And he gave her a dying wish: "forgive." Forgive & understand. Because he knew it wasn't black and white like that & he told her. But she disobeyed. It's HIS rebellion, not hers. Her job is to pick up where *he* left off. Run it the way he would've wanted. Honor his last wish, even if she don't feel it makes sense. Because even if we don't agree, if my oldest brother is giving me literally his last living order EVER, I'm not asking questions. I'm gonna do whatever he told me to. Because I know he's got a good head on his shoulders, and I love him. Not only that, but Kathleen knows damn well that her brother would've done the same thing Henry did if it was for her. I don't follow everything they ever tell me to do of course, but being a good sibling means that you trust each other's judgment when it matters most. And she didn't.

@@onettaviator5396 I do agree that Kathleen did it more for herself than anything but she was right when she said that Sam was not more important than everyone else. Maybe to Henry he was because he’s his brother but other people were directly affected by his actions. I myself am an only child so the closest thing I have to compare to the situation to is me and my mother but even then I love my mother to death but even she isn’t more important than dozens of people who are suffering just because she means the world to ME. I do see your point though and I do wonder if at any point Kathleen actually decided that she was going to do what she did for JUST her brother or if she in someway was also doing it for the resistance.

I’m pretty sure the actor who played Sam is actually deaf in real life which is why he is fluent in ASL. I’m not sure about the actor who plays Henry, but I’m pretty sure he was fluent in ASL before the role too. I’m hard of hearing so it’s so nice to see deaf/hard of hearing representation in a show. 😩This episode was the one to make me sob in my bed for 5 minutes while thinking about my life choices tho lol. Edit:The actor who plays Henry actually had to learn ASL after he got the role so props to him!

When henry said you clear the way, it's a foreshadowing to what Joel is doing when Ellie was being attacked by clickers. He cleared Ellie's way to safety. She is more than just a cargo now. She is a family.

You know as someone that’s played the game initially. It’s so crazy to see how a decade later the story is being told again in such a refreshing way. It’s weak as hell that Home Box Office (Yea i’ll use their gov. name too) is being difficult about this specific episode, but for those who’ve never played it, i’m happy to know that your giving people the game’s perspective as well. I literally feel like i’m talking to you during these videos cause i legit say the exact same things when i watch these episodes. Ugh don’t get me started on The Ish story.

I'm watching the show with my mom who's experiencing the story for the first time and I'm trying so hard not to spoil things because every time I see someone with a tragic fate or something that foreshadows death or a wholesome moment I star crying, poor woman has no idea why I'm in tears the entire episode. Same and I think it's cause episode 3 was kind of like a beautiful sad but this one is just traumatizing sad episode 3 was like a bittersweet goodbye and episode 5 was like getting gut punched till you throw up and then dragged across gravel with a broken arm.

So far, I think episode 5 is the best of the series. You get the high of that awesome action sequence with the bloater followed by the absolute trauma and devastation of watching what happens to Sam and Henry. And in between it all you get a character like Kathleen who sacrifices everything for her pursuit of revenge which....hmm...sounds familiar for some reason......That episode kind of encapsulates what The Last Of Us is all about IMO.

The only one who learned ASL was Henry's actor. The actor who played Sam is named Kievonn Woodard. He's an actual up an coming Deaf actor. I'll give this one to HBO. Most of the time studios will just bring in a hearing actor who half-heartedly learned ASL to play a Deaf character. This tends to be inauthentic and actively take jobs away from Deaf actors. HBO used a Deaf ASL Consultant, multiple Interpreters, and casted Kievonn in the role of Sam. Good on HBO and I can't wait to see Kievonn in other films.
