How To Properly Clean Stainless Steel Pans | Made In Cookware
Stainless Steel is the most versatile cookware material on the market. Its responsiveness to changing heat allows you to cook practically anything to perfection (well, besides scrambled eggs-you might want to use a Non Stick Frying Pan for that). But whether you're searing, sautéing, boiling, braising, or reducing, our Stainless Clad Cookware has you covered. It’s why it continues to be a mainstay in restaurants around the world. And yet, there are many things about cooking with Stainless Clad that can be daunting, like food sticking or burning. However, if you use the right technique (and a little Bar Keepers Friend) all of that is easily avoidable. In this video, Made In Product Designer Steve Barnett gives you all the tips you need to become a master cleaner of three kinds of Stainless Steel messes (including the most dreaded kind: a scrambled egg attempt). Watch this quick care video to help your Stainless Cookware last a lifetime.

I have found that utilizing Meyer’s clean day that has baking soda in it and then adding dawn and a little water to a mildly hot pan will clean even a pan with heavily burned places very easily. The mixture should be a little thinner than a paste. You will find it to be amazing.

Bar Keepers friend is my best friend! Pork Chops always leave a white ghost stain behind and it’s the only meat I can’t clean off with water and washing liquid. Put some Bar Keepers friend on the pan, massage in with a sponge, leave it alone for two minutes, then clean with the same sponge to apply barkeepers friend under a warm running tap and job done. Full factory reset and the pan looks beautiful again.

Love it! I've been using nothing but stainless steel since 1963. I had a stainless steel cookware dinner party. I was so impressed I continued to have them throughout the years and I bought my set on the 1st dinner party I hosted. I clean them exactly as you do and that Bar Keepers Friend is phenomenal. Once in awhile I've been known to forget beans or other Foods until they burnt the bottom of my pans blacker than the Ace of Spades. Green beans turned into little charcoal briquettes. LOL period when it gets that bad just let it soak in vinegar then after that a little elbow grease along with that Bar Keepers Friend and I guarantee that stainless steel pan will come out like brand new again.

Absolutely! You're telling the facts here. Mix a bit of water & Vinegar and boil a bit. YES!! Finally find someone who agrees with me. So help me God, no lie. One day last week I actually caught my daughter trying to throw one of my stainless steel pans in the trash. I almost croaked I asked her what the hell she was doing? She said mom there's no way this thing will ever come clean again. She's recently moved in with me. I said give me that piece of cookware and I'll show you. 30 minutes doing exactly as you do here in your video it was like brand new. But in the past years I would have done the same thing as she was doing because it was burnt on pitch-black to the bottom. LOL it's the little things that make a difference huh?

Hey I just got my first set of stainless steel and after my first time cooking with them I ended up with some light brown/ copper colored staining on the rim. I cooked eggs in tomato sauce and weirdly enough there was no staining on the bottom of the pan where most of the food was. Is there a reason that happened so I can avoid it happening in the future?

Soaking the pan in a solution of baking soda and hot water is good for removing burnt on food. The baking soda will turn the residue really soft where it can easily be wiped off. It's a good idea to use gloves or rinse off the baking soda before putting your hands in the pan.

For most stuck on things (like egg) I just add cold water and let it soak. After one or two hours every stuck bit comes loose. I can use a dish washing brush to wipe it off. For dark stains I have to work a bit harder or longer, but it does work. Hope this helps. Thanks for the video.

For the white residue after cooking a meat, I use a vinegar water mix and it takes it off. U can use barkeepers but I try to stay away from it u less there is discoloration. Due to it being a abrasive.. I can polish my stainless sink with it. I deglaze and then use the vinegar water mix and I have never had a issue with cleaning. I don’t use much water when deglazing to help with the warping. Jsut a little at a time and move it around

Show us a level 4 mess cleaning. Cook bacon, then eggs in the bacon grease. Leave egg residue to burn (actually brown and black in the pan). Hate to have to say this, but what you've shown in this video is what anyone would be doing to clean their pans anyway, if they're using them for a variety of food at various cook/heat levels. Except for maybe the BKF. A great/better substitute is ~1Tbsp baking soda, ~1 tsp diatomaceous earth, and a 3-4 drops of dish soap. Diatomaceous earth can be found at most home repair & services big-box stores, and online at major retailers.

Nice video. I own both sizes of the Saucier, and I have noticed that without Barkeeper's Friend, the interior stainless itself looks grungy after a few uses. Fortunately, it comes right back after a light scouring with Barkeeper's Friend and a Scotchbrite sponge. My question is this: I also have high-end non-stick pans. While it is mostly a freeze to clean, there is one part that is not. Last week I used it to make a large amount of scrambled eggs. After cooking them, the pan just rinsed clean, EXCEPT for the handle rivets. Those puppies held on to the eggs as if their lives depended on it. Is there an easy way to clean the rivets without damaging the non-stick surface?

For decades, I’ve been using baking soda liberally sprinkled onto a pan or pot that has burnt on food, then putting a little water over the baking soda. I put over heat, and boil for a few mins. This stinks, but manages to bring up the burnt food. However, I do have a continuous problem that needs more help. When my friend cooks with oil, no amount of soaking and/or scrubbing gets rid of the “sticky” residue toward the lip of the pan. Would the BF cream work on that? Thank you.
