You’re the first vocal coach I’ve ever heard teach me that high notes go back and low forward. I’ve heard from so many coaches that I need to make the high notes go forward as well, but it still didn’t help me not think of them as stretching and reaching upward because it was still as if I had to push. Visualizing them pulling behind me is so powerful and liberating! I already feel relief from it!

Holy S***. I have found my voice again. Somewhere over the years I lost some control and thanks to you I now have it rediscovered. I remember some of what my old vocal teacher said, but you explained it way better. Even holding a guitar doesn't keep me from relaxing and belting it out once again. You made it look so easy, and it sort of is. THANK YOU.

Omggg! I've had voice lessons for over a year now and was still struggling with the sound coming out. The video about breathing and this series helped me sooo soooo much! It's bizare my teacher did not go over this with me. You explain everything so clear and easy! Thank you so much for making my singing less of an effort. I used to squeeze everything out and tighten my abs, which caused so much tension in my neck, jaw and tongue. Now I just have to think about the steps to relax and it all flows out without any effort! I'll be laying in bed: "Smile, relax, release" 😂 You're so funny too which makes 20 minutes flyby!

WOW! I had to watch this a couple of times to get it, but I GOT IT NOW! Incredible! The starting YAWN works for me for sure, and staying LIGHT and NEUTRAL, focusing on the parallel movement, rather than up and down. YES YES YES! Thank you, Madeleine. You Rock.

Hi Madeleine. Can't wait for part 3 of your How to Sing with Power video series! I haven't been watching your videos for too long, but as a more recent subscriber, I'd just love to point out how amazing you are. Watching your videos for about 2-3 months now has helped me become more confident with my voice and has helped me grow overall as a singer. I've learned new techniques and ways to sing to my highest potential, which everyday with your help, I can continue to learn more. Not to mention, your positive and goofy attitude is so comforting that I always feel like it's ok to be silly, as playing and trying unfamiliar things only helps us become more confident. Thank you for everything! ❤

I've started from the "Belt" video and it was so much effective for me. Thank you for your job, Madeleine! You really seem to know what you're doing. Concerning this video, can you please specify whether we really should move our larynx a little bit back to go for higher sounds or it's just an imagination trick to deceive ourselves in order not to contract a throat?

HI Madeleine, Thanks for all this interesting tips. I am playing a brass instrument (Soprano cornet with Soli Brass Holland). I'd like to ask you about reading new sheet music. When we approach a slurred part in the score with uncommon intervals: How do we keep playing(singing) the style we are playing in? In other words: How do we encourage ourselve to play the whole phrase with the same intention in the right style?

Hi! I recently have started watching your videos and it helped me a lot. Especially the one with the standing out at your audition video. Anyway, I auditioned for our musical production of Newsies at school and I was able to get the part of Jack Kelly. Now, I have been practicing one of the powerful songs my character sings, Santa Fe. I can reach the A5 note (thanks to your video for increasing my vocal range) but I can't seem to sustain it for 16 counts. do you have any suggestions that I could maybe try? thank you!

Hi Madeleine! Thank you for all your great advice that you always give. I would like to ask, where does someone who has no relative pitch start? I tried an exercise the other day here on KZbin where they played the keys and you had to guess which one it was. I was shocked at how badly I did 😭 I also struggle matching pitch. Sometimes I can match it but other times I sing a completely different note! 😭 Everyone says that the reason I don’t sound nice when I sing is because I am never in tune. If I developed a good musical ear I think it would help me improve a lot. I am so desperate to learn to sing please help 😂😂
