My favorite part is probably from 2:25 on. Because firstly the font of the "killing me" changing is just genius. Because it isn't reflected in the singing, it feels like a thought that isn't spoken out loud. It's the violent screams that aren't allowed to leave your head. And then when the tension already is building because of that, the "I was never meant to win" comes in at 2:29. And the dissonance of it is just perfect. It feels so defeated. And then at 2:39 it's getting taken on the next level. The tune takes over. It's not just a thought anymore, not just a random realisation, but now you truly understand with all your being. And during that turmoil, that hurt in your head you just look at the hand hitting you repeatedly, almost apathetically. It's perfection, even though it's about such negative emotions.
@bananabro1010 Жыл бұрын
Everyone's talking about that middle part, and yes it's good. But I feel like 2:25 to the end of the song is really the gem of this. The defeat in the "I was never meant to win" being repeated over the song while the goofy music plays in the background to juxtapose it paints a sharp picture - sharp in the way a slap to the face would be. I also like the imagery of a clown with the somewhat circus-esque music to show how much of a clown she felt for letting herself be so close to this person.

Hearing this song for the first time took me back to a specific point in time. The short story is that I ended up in the psych ward after the ending of an extremely toxic relationship. If I'm being honest, I was fully delusional. I placed him on a pedestal. I told myself he was perfect. I put my self worth in his hands. He was the only thing I lived for. My dramatic sensitive ass had told him that I wanted to capture his beauty in marble. I'd written poetry about how he was my butterfly effect, and dedicated the image of a butterfly in his favorite color to him in my mind. When I was in the ward, every single scrap of paper I used had doodles of blue butterflies. It was an infestation, really. He was all I thought about. I called my EX from the PSYCH WARD to tell him that I've never been "so sure" about anyone before. I was convinced I wanted to MARRY him. I was hospitalized in March. I don't think I've had a clear head until recently. I'm just now seeing the relationship for what it was. While I don't want to relive memories just to share them, the fact that I was in the psych ward for the first time because of this relationship - and the horrified gasps from my friends as I told the story - should say more than enough. If I could send my past self a message, I wouldn't just tell them to run, because I know they'd run into the arms of someone else who would take advantage of them. I'd squeeze them real tight and tell them I love them. I'd remind them that he's just a human, like anyone else. Flawed. I'd tell them that they don't need to justify their existence. They don't need someone else's love as proof that they have value. I'd tell them I'm glad they survived that whole mess. I'd scold them and remind them that they have a brilliant mind they should be using to make decisions rather than blindly following feelings. Feelings, as big and real as they feel, can sometimes lead us astray. They're not always rational. It's okay to feel them, but we don't always have to act on them. Anyway, I'm glad I've grown from the experience, but never again. Fuck that noise.

The part from 0:59 and 1:40 is such a raw section, the music, the build up, the lyrics the screams slowly but surely taking center stage of the main voice. Its incredible an perfectly executed, the first time i listened to it I felt such an overflow of emotions that it left be completely stuned. It reminds me of a moment where a person you thought that you were close, and connected with, says something so shocking it stops you for a second trying to process what they said... Well done, it's a good song, it's raw, strong, and catchy. And i guess I now became a new enjoyer of your songs, keep it up

this is an amazing song about moving on, and loneliness as a whole. everyone needs someone else behind them to hold them up, someone who actually cares and doesn’t give you a brain injury by dropping you on the sidewalk. “Left me hanging at the station but you’ll be back for me soon.. I’m bout to die yet the only thing I find I’m worried about is you” Wow. That line really hits hard. It’s like having a friend you really care about ghost you, yet you still love them since they gained your trust. “Something tells me you aren’t coming guess that I’m really doomed” Realized that they ghosted you and really aren’t your friend, just fake and you still want them, portrayed as “doomed”. “You’re slowly killing me, but I don’t mind.” Like I said earlier, they ghosted you, but you still love them. The evil reality of having a fake friend who gained your trust, but you still love them, after what they had done to you.

A player had given me "sometimes, I wake up in weird places having lost hours of my life", and I had planned for a problematic second persona in the beginning. First time Listening to it, shattering in tears honestly. I find it very relatable, especially at 0:45 since I know what these voices can do to you. I myself suffer from DID and have to share a body with 3 more people who are constantly against me. And I gotta be honest, the rest fits so much and- urgh I don't know!

I have DID too and I have no idea what I’d do if the others were against me. I got really lucky with all of us getting along well enough

This is a very sweet comment but i read the first line as “sharting tears” and i’d be lying if i said it didn’t give me whiplash lmao

Its so annoying how people obsess over how Olivia Rodrigo screamed in one of her songs but no one talks abt this song.

0:48-1:43 this is the best, it just seems so care free and fun, like a group of friends who never want to leave each other but also find eachother so annoying ☺️

i relate to the lyrics a lot after i realized that my "best friend" was actually just controlling me and using me and i still haven't gotten over that because i loved him a lot.
