Girl I feel ya. I’ve been a nurse for 5 yrs on night shift and I still get in those funks you’re experiencing. It feels like I’m missing out on life and not enjoying it, because of work. You eventually figure out what works to help you out of those funks ❤️

Hi Maddie! I just wanted to let you know that we started nursing at the same time but I went straight into night shift . I wanted to let you know that I went through the EXACT same thing you are and I promise you it gets better. I felt so depressed and tired for a while. You’ll find your rhythm and a routine that works for you and your family. I also work with an amazing team and I can feel the growth and it’s heartwarming to see you go through the same thing as well! Best of luck to you 🥰

You are not alone in feeling this! I was a new grad in L&D on nights and quit after 6 months because I couldn’t handle how bad night shift impacted me mentally and physically.
@onstagedancer12 жыл бұрын
I was a night shift L&D nurse for 5 years and what you’re feeling is 1000% normal…you’ve got this, like you said, practice more self care. Find ways to spoil yourself on your days off. Some days you need to sleep all day and that’s okay. It will get better and the “rut” will pass eventually!

Thanks for sharing Madi. I worked nights 8 hour shifts for about two years when my children were little. It was so hard and I felt isolated from my family. I finally went to day shift and it was wonderful. Good luck to you💗

You are such an inspiration. Not only with organizing and beauty products but with my job. I am not a nurse but I have been a receptionist at the same Dr office for almost 5 years now full time (and I do hair part time too) and I definitely have gotten in a funk at my job too. I am extremely active at my Dr office and committed as I love my Drs and nurses I work with. I sometimes step onto the clinical floor as well if needed and you have inspired me to have a fun morning routine and the little things like incorporating cute scrubs or badge reels into my routine puts me in such a better mindset everyday. Even pairing cute jewelry with my scrubs helps too. People think “oh you just sit at a desk all day” but it’s so much more than that and we are the first ones they deal with either on the phone or in person and sometimes their lives are in our hands before the nurses. It’s exhausting sometimes and mentally draining. I get you girl. Keep your head up as you are a huge inspiration to all of us 💓💖

I’m a brand new grad in a SICU and am watching this to wind down after my first night shift and hearing you talk about work life balance as a new nurse I totally relate and really REALLY needed to hear this 🥹
@kylakeith83382 жыл бұрын
Night shift has been a hard adjustment. I am a new grad ER nurse working nights. But they are so good at making sure us night shifters get 3 in a row so its easier on us! My advice is to, on your last day of nights, to only sleep like 3.5 or 4 hours that morning. Then get up and get outside whether its just to sit outside or to go for a walk just to get some sunshine on your face and some vit D. Then its easier to go to bed that night. I do take melatonin on that night too to help me go to sleep after working 3 nights. Lean on your coworkers and ask how they do it and what works well for them. You got this!

I totally relate to you as far as being on night shift. I did night shift at my hospital for a little over a year. I tried everything to adjust to it. From doing school work, fitting social time with family and friends, trying to go to the gym, eat healthy, and have time to myself I would do anything to try to feel a sense of “normalness” from day to day. I constantly felt depressed, lazy, unmotivated, and I was so moody all the time. I could never sleep right at all and felt like I had no life at all. I tried everything I could to stay healthy both mentally and physically and I couldn’t do it! I switched to days and have been on day shift for about a year and a half now and it was the best decision I made. Night shift is not for the weak. You can get through it and find many ways to elevate everything but don’t be afraid to switch to day shift if it’s what would be best for you- always consider the option! Your health comes before anything else and definitely should be prioritized 🥰🥰 you got this girl!
@chelsycobb26292 жыл бұрын
hey girl 💕 I did nights for the first 7 months & I felt the same exact way. it wasn’t working night shift that was difficult, it was 100% personal/family life and days off that was difficult. I felt so anxious because I felt just this lack of control. I just always felt like I had no idea what was going on because I was just sleeping all day basically on my days off. it was definitely a hard adjustment for me. Thankfully I was able to move to days when I transitioned into the NICU. all this to say, I totally hear you and understand what you’re feeling and you’ve got this!!💕

Hi madi. Love watching your videos to see how you’re progressing in your new role. I’ve been on nights since December and what worked for me is choosing to work my 3 days back-to-back and trying to get 3-4 days off if I can. But it’s exhausting pushing full time hours into 3 days so I decided to go part-time. It’s the quality of life for me. Hope you find what works for you.
@wellno37312 жыл бұрын
I agree having that many days off is the best way. For me I would always push myself and work 4-5 days and have 1 day off. That’s rough.

Night shift is so rough. It’s never good for the mental health long term. I know someone’s gotta do it lol but recently changing to day shift after being on night for 4 years is so nice. I was constantly drained and it was so hard making time for not only myself but my friends/family too. Although it’s nice to be able to plan stuff during the day it’s also rough coming in at night and finishing out your shift on your day off. It’ll work out though 🤞🏽

I've been on night shift for 5 and 1/2 years and it does not get any easier my biggest complaint is I have no energy when I'm not at work. people think you have all this time during the day but they don't realize you are exhausted from being awake and using all of your productive energy at nite.

I feel where you’re coming from with the night shift I did it for a year and I got three days off in a row but that morning you’re off after that but you’re still working that entire day goes to sleeping and then on the rest of your days you’re trying to relax sleep be active in life and attend to the things you didn’t get a chance too due to working and sleeping . It takes a toll on your body after awhile which my boss warned me about who worked nights prior but I still chose to do so. Did you chose to do nights ? Or that’s the shift they put you on . Out of curiosity
