When everyone is doing limited print games, that means the stuff that actually will be worth something is long gone. When it's a collectible, that means it's going to be worthless.

Ouch 70 bucks is a lil hard to swallow with these cheap games, but I absolutely love the packaging and the instruction manual is a nice touch

Yeah, at the Price Point your not paying for the game as much as paying for the privilege of having a physical edition. Its exactly what it says a premium edition.

I purchased both Phoenotopia Awakening and Cathedral from them a while back and really like how they are packaged in the decent quality slipcases. Even so, I have recently noticed a slight bit of deceitfulness with this company. Like any other limited company, they advertise these releases as "limited quantity", but they only have the publishing rights to a small handful of games right now. I have noticed that after they have sold out of games (like the two I purchased myself) they seem to print more under the guise of a different version (retro editions like with the two in this video). These are merely another print run of games they already sold out of, only packaged with a couple extra goodies, stuffed in a SNES style box, and sold for $20 more. I am not saying you should hate or boycott them or anything, but I DO find it a bit disingenuous.

This isnt true. Premium does a preorder. Then the games go away. Once they are in hand they go up for the second chance sale without the preorder bonus. Thats it. Nothing more too it than that.

I like stickers lol. I like the box art, the overall packaging is nice. It makes collecting these worth the price, so it gets a green check in my book.

I really like Premium Edition Games, I have all the platformers they've put out. I've nvr had an issue taking the game out of the slipcase like that, they always just come right out. Maybe your package sat in a hot post office room or something for a bit too long, making it stick like that. Cuz both your games did that, my Wunderling came right out like usual. Also, if you order when the pre-orders first get listed, you'll get a nice dog tag as well.

I'm surprised I'm not seeing any video game channels on KZbin talking about what Limited Run Games has done this week. Firing an employee for a six year old tweet and following conservative people on Twitter. All because one nutjob complained about it. It's a big story that goes way deeper (crazy) still when you really look into it. None of the bigger game channels are reporting on it. Why? I know it's not exactly "video game" related. But it is about a video game company that they've done plenty of content for. I realize people don't want to get into politics but I think this story should be told to the gamers out there. Especially the ones who buy's from LRG and don't know what's going on. People should know so they can make an informed decision to either continue supporting LRG or make a statement to them by not supporting them going forward. There are other companies out there doing the same kind of product that LRG does that gamers might not be aware of. There are other options out there. I for one will not be supporting them any longer. That's my opinion anyway.

I collect Switch physicals because I: 1) resell them once finish or it’s something I didn’t enjoy. 2) have a game room and physicals looks nice on my shelves. But I just can’t do these big box physicals. 1) They’re all different shapes from each other. Which drives my OCD wild. 2) Cost double or more than the standard physical. 3) Just have no use for any of the extras that comes with it. The stuff that I would like from said game are sold separately. Even retro franchises like TMNT Cowabunga collection or Contra Collection couldn’t entice me to buy the CE. But I won’t judge any collector that disagrees with me. Get your collecting on.

Adding fluff to a collectors edition is nice... but the most important thing to include in a physical release is a manual. A physical copy of a game in modern consoles without a manual is just a digital game with more work and real estate involved. The illusion is that a physical game is actually a physical game these days... Physical games (CD's and memory card slugs like the Switch) are a digital game that is dependent on updates as soon as you put them into your console... and 20 years from now we will start to see that reality. Least they could do is give us a manual... to enjoy... in the future when our physical games no longer work as intended anymore without someone standing up a pirate patch server for those consoles to connect to.

They just pissed me off. I ordered 2 ganes and was charged $30 for cross border fees which most competitors have proper shipping rates in place for their customers. Never again!

That boxing is embarrassing the way it's hard to take out. Probably due to the foiling which is kind of unnecessary even though it looks cool

Yeah, while I think the boxes are really nice quality it shouldnt be a struggle to remove the games lol. The extra slip cover just makes it too snug. After opening everything and putting the games back they still are a pain to get out of the cases.

I meet the developers of Wunderling and spoke to them and even playing an early built and talking to them I kept thinking, this isn’t a console game this is a mobile game. I mean who plays an auto runner on a home system? Sure the Nintendo Switch is also a handheld but still. And it’s kinda a shame on such a fantastic art style and all…..

Couple things: it's really sad to see game manuals only coming in limited / premium / collectors versions of games now. Also, I feel bad for any future Switch game collectors, as I have seen so many of these limited print runs, and loads of games never get physical releases at all. I've already seen some of these being sold for hundreds.

I have purchased the a few of their first games but when they raised the price to $50 (standard edition), I said no way. With the addition of the shipping and tax, you are looking at $60. Also they sell the games on VGP which offers free shipping but they don't sell these games into the US. I wish they would keep the price between $35-$40 and get ride of the "extra" crap.

I love the idea of premium packaging and collectors editions....not to mention game preservation on physical media. But it really feels too much like praying on people's FOMO when things are TOO limited and overpriced.

Yes they keep re printing their games. The ARNF they have so many versions, and they never disclosed the real number of copies produced. Just make it black and white like Super Rare Games, 4k copies means 4k.

Premium Edition will keep printing games if people still want them. They have been clear about not being a limited company. However the number of copies printed is on the Premium site

I much prefer to buy physical copies of games but I can’t justify paying 10 or more times the cost of the digital version unless it’s an absolute favorite. Paper manuals are nice to have but most of the extras in special editions (e.g., stickers, figurines) add no value for me.

While I have had love/hate experiences with all the low-print publishers, Premium Edition Games is the only company to have directly lied to their customers. Personally, I will never deal with them again and I honestly can't think of another company that I actively want to see fail. My ranking: 1: Pix n Love 2: Signature Edition 3: Super Rare (I just don't like their game selection lately) 4: Red Art Games (rapidly becoming quite unreliable) 5: East Asia Soft/PlayAsia Exclusive 6: PixelHeart 7: Strictly Limited (my vote for most improved though) 8: Limited Run 9: 1st Press (you want to see a tight box, try them) 10: Premium Edition. Their are a few like Serenity Forge, Iam8bit, Forever Limited, and Special Reserve that I haven't bought from so I don't have an opinion.

Agreed that Strictly Limited seems to be improving. I think they could be a contender for a top spot if they could just get their lead times inline. I understand when games are up from Pre-order that those will take longer but if the game is limit to 4000 copies it shouldn't take 6+ months to get items. They should wait till the have the games in hand like Super Rare. They ship within a couple weeks.
