Using your Mining beam on a steel door and simultaneously firing your grenade will instantly blow up the door. Running inside will stop the sentinels from attacking you as well. Deactivating the base will deactivate the sentinels. You can get in and out without being attacked by sentinels with this method. The max amount of slots on your backpack/life support is 48 slots. Costs about 350,000 Units for the final upgrade. Emeril (Per unit) is worth the most out of all common elements to sell. Installing mining beam cooling #3 will allow you to mine elements for much longer and if you stop holding the trigger for even a quarter second it will instantly reset the overheat bar to 0, essentially letting you mine without stopping untill your beam % reaches 0%. My ship currently has 35 slots and cost about 13,000,000 units to buy. I have seen 1 or 2 other ships with slightly more slots but have not had a need to upgrade. The phaser beam on a ship is a waste of space. The aim assist makes the photon cannon a far better choice not only for space mining, but for blowing up other ships. (+1, +2, +3 =+6 in photon cannon fire speed, damage, and cooling rate makes it 6x6x6 more effective= x216 better than the base photon cannon allowing you to take out as many as 5 ships in 1.5 seconds assuming they all are grouped when they warp in.) This is so good because being able to instantly destroy a multitude of ships is essentially the biggest buff to your ships weak shields as you can get. After finding a ship you like and getting the final upgrade on the backpack, units are virtually useless. Buying elements from the store only costs a few thousand per batch and when you have millions, money is no object. Point being, farm hard early game, focus on exploration and enjoying the game after you have your ship and your upgrades. I just got an Atlas Pass v2 from Polo on the space anomaly after completing a lvl8 milestone. It is likely random though. If you are lazy, you can get a zoology milestone every time you turn in a planet devoid of animal life (for 0 units) while you are still on the planet. If you are beginning the game, DO save your atlas stones (at least 10), DO NOT jump through a black hole with a waypoint on your map still. YOU WILL be stranded hundreds of thousands of light years away from that waypoint and you WILL NOT be able to jump into another blackhole AND get closer to the center of the galaxy. All this will do is warp you to a new place roughly equidistant from the center of the galaxy as the only place before you jumped. Untill they update the game, there is currenly no way to remove waypoints from the game. (Believe me, I am stuck jumping 1600 LY at a time to try to get to the center while still being 150,000 LY away from the center which basic math means I have like 1000 jumps remaining to get there since black holes are useless to me.) The color of the stars matter on the map. You need all 3 warp reactor upgrades to get to all of the different colors. Yellow = Common Red, Green = Uncommon Blue = Rare Blue has planets with the most likely vibrant color schemes, water and land mixes, and animal population as well as rare collectible items, many of which are needed for upgrades. Having all 3 warp upgrades also means being able to jump as much as 1600 light years per warp cell. Save before interacting with any important NPC or terminal that yields rewards. If you answer wrong or accidentally enter the wrong choice or answer, revert to current save and retry. The dialogue and answers are always the same. Just pick the right answer. Every time you jump to a new system, always land at the space station first, then do whatever you gotta do. If you DIE simply restore PREVIOUS save, and you will have not lost your items, your death count will not have gone up, and your ship will not be damaged. If your into cheating and ruining the game, this also means your inventory is restored and there is still a death marker somehow that has your inventory also which means your just doubled everything in your ship inventory for free. (Really though, don't abuse this if it means ruining the game for yourself.) By now this is common knowledge I think. I do it purely to double my warp cells because when you have to make 1000 jumps to get to the center since the game is bugged, it kind of makes sense to spend about 2 minutes to get more warp cells then to only make 5 jumps then spend an hour farming the materials to make 5 more cells. Id rather just get to the center but the game is bugged.

I'm confused on the black hole thing you mentioned. Can anyone explain it further? And I think I've ran into the waypoint problem, every time I go to a location on a planet the waypoint doesn't go away even though I already arrived there. I think only a few times it has gone away.

Good post thank you for these tips, but I have some questions and clarifications to make, i'll start from the top. The grenade + mining beam thing doesn't seem to work for me, but I have a + to grenade intensity which does allow me to blow open a reinforced door instantly. Are you sure its the grenade + mining beam that's doing that for you? The phaser beam on the ship isn't necessarily useless, it hits way harder per shot than the cannon does and its an instant hit, no leading necessary. I have one with +3 cooling, +2 cooling, and +4 damage and I can take out a pirate ship in two to three short bursts. But it does use fuel, unlike the cannon, and is pretty useless for mining, due to how fast it overheats. I have something to add to your hint though, when using the cannon, if you aim at the center of the leading reticle when shooting at your target you get a x2 damage boost for all shots that hit the target while aiming at the center of the reticle. You will see a little x2 pop up next to your target each time you do this successfully. If you can do this consistently you can kill ships in seconds with lower level upgrades and save some inventory space. Not sure what your talking about with the Waypoint thing. If your talking about getting a waypoint from Nada, like a black hole or atlas path, and then going through another black hole, then yes your waypoint will remain on that star despite being light years away from it. But you can talk to Nada again to get re-directed to a closer one which will delete the previous waypoint they gave you. But if your talking about a waypoint you created, using the button prompt, that is unfortunately a bug, and I agree very annoying. I don't think you need to avoid using black holes though, just don't use the waypoint system, and try to ignore the current waypoint you have stuck on. Black holes do get you closer to the center by a large margin, one article I read said it could be up to 5000 light years closer, but like you said they can go sideways in distance too, the system picks an outlet randomly that is technically closer to the center, but that could be just 1000 light years closer but on the other side of the galaxy. So they are a gamble.

another huge tip I want to leave is that if you find the design of a ship you like while in a space station but your current ship is better you can actually buy the ship and then restore your current save. for some reason you will keep your old ships slots and upgrades but have the new ships design. I found this out because I had to restart my game due to a game breaking glitch. but I accidentally bought a ship with no warp reactor at all. when I restored my last save I had the new ship design but all of the old ships slots and upgrades.

Best tip is that when you find a crashed ship or new multi tool you should break down all the upgrades from your current one so you have materials to upgrade the new one quickly. Or if you find a new ship you don't want accept it anyway, break down all of its upgrades, take the materials and then take your original ship back.

This is incredibly useful for making the mining laser combat capable. An upgraded one that has the combat attachments for the mining laser will allow you to kill sentinels in about 2-4 seconds, and you can also destroy reinforced doors at mining facilities with it. On my upgraded 24 slot mining tool, I currently don't have any bolt caster or its attachments since I can kill everything with the mining laser.

you can also grind ships on planets (crashed ones) by searching and going to tons of transmission towers. those ships are free and will get you a 48 slotter in no time. also, the atlas passes V2 & V3 are only found as recipes in colonies.

Not sure how many have tried this yet, but flying backwards in a fight makes it MUCH easier to hit your opponent because, that way, they chase you from the front. Ever since I started doing this, I've had no problems what-so-ever fighting off 4-5 ships at a time with only one small upgrade to my gun and my shield. They will literally sit inside your crosshair and fly into your shots.

some additions: a the jetpack speed Trick is especially usefull if you need to swim longer distances. the speed you enter the water will stay the same until you stop or hit a wall. The more money you hold the more expensive ships will get. once you have a level 30 ship you could safe millions by going on a ship wreck spree. Dont bother to repair every next ship wreck will have one or two more slots then your current ship. So keep using signal scanners to locate new ships until you hit the magic 42 slots.

Here's a money saving tip: Don't ever buy ships from aliens. If you locate a crashed ship it's yours for free. Some systems will be damaged, don't repair those, just salvage them.

I'm not sure if this is a bug but, sometimes if you release R2 at the right moment during take-off, no fuel will be consumed and you will usually be launched out of the planet's atmosphere. And as for the spaceship tip, you can find 29 slot spaceships or higher in space stations when you start the game. The only way to get better ships without spending cash is to salvage the crash sites. Only those are based off of your current ship, and they're 1 or 2 slots bigger than the one you have.

The take off into the stratosphere thing seems to be a bug, as it's random when this happens. As for salvaging crashed ships, it's better if you have materials needed to fix up the ship first, or you can easily find yourself stuck in a star system until you explored enough to find the recipes for say, building a warp drive on the ship, or antimatter if you accidentally skipped the tutorial waypoint for it. When I reloaded a game, the quest waypoint just straight up vanished, which also seems to be a bug. I was exploring anyway, and managed to find the recipe for it in a mining facility.

another tip to add is for the exosuit. Once you have an atlas pass you can keep upgrading and adding slots at the space station instead of trying to do d them on planets. Least that's what I did and have 42 slots on my suit alone.

If you need money fast, and are on a planet that doesn't have rare items or materials like gold that usually sell for a lot, just farm plutonium. Lots and lots of plutonium. They are available on every planet, since you need it to recharge the thrusters on your ship to take off from a planet's surface. And it's also usable for recharging your life support system along with your mining tool/bolt caster. When you sell a few thousand of those, you can often get 80-120k units for a few minutes of mining them. They're found all over the place, but seem to be more densely packed near cavern entrances. As a bonus, if you land near a trading post or settlement that has the galactic vendor in it, you can trade it fairly quickly, instead of having to fly back to the space station every time you need to unload your inventory. Not the fastest way to earn money, but you also don't have to rely on the random number generator gods to give you a planet that has tons of rare materials either. Thamium9 can also be farmed in space easily, but I wouldn't recommend staying out there too long unless your ship is capable of combat in case pirates show up. Make sure you have iron or titanium in case they do so you can recharge your ship's shields if you go this route. Titanium can also be easily farmed from killing sentinel bots that you see flying all over the planets. They can be tough at first, but if you have an upgraded mining tool, you can kill them in about 3 seconds with the mining laser. They also often drop neutrino modules, which you can sell or use for at least one ship upgrade, or plans for mining tool attachments.

An extra with movement, in water you are slow as. You can use the "on land" trick to leap into the water and it will keep you going at that speed. Now when you stop in the water you will be back at slow speed. However jet pack straight up and as you fall hold the forward button while looking down and you'll at least have some more speed boost. Well worked for me.

as for ships. anything more than ~25 slots starts getting crazy with prices. at that point. quest your ships via the beacon > transmission tower > crashed site, chain. you have a 50/50 chance of finding a ship with +1 slot over the one you currently use. however you have to also repair it. so. buy your 25 and quest from there-ish.

LMfao 200,000 unit is huge. Plutonium on some systems will give you 500,000+ units in 15 mins depending if the system has +103%. As for the ship slots, I had 16 and came across 30+ that were 15,400,000 Units. I've seen some ships for 90,000,000 units that are in the 30 slot range. Game is all effed up if you ask me.

you can swim faster by jetpacking straight up out of the water, and then look straight down as you fall, holding forwards as if you are diving into the water. you will maintain the momentum and speed for as long as you hold the left stick forward. the higher you fall into the water from- the more speed you can swim.

I still have a 16 slot ship and I got the option to upgrade to a 31 slot ship ! yep.... other than the melle boost which I too got from reddit, the rest are NOT game play mechanics, but us fighting with the game to use to better. the turn upside down to see what is on the ground happened to me post first launch! the get upto the planet's atmosphere to get there faster is something that is extremely obvious! but none of these qualify as hidden mechanics except the boost thing

Its better to find radio towers, and find crashed ships.. I went from 20 slot ship to 48 slot ship in no time. I found this out on my own btw... some towers will let you keep solving the puzzle over and over uncovering more and more wrecked ships, on the same planet. when you find one only repair what you need to get to the next crash and so on.... I spent no money and got 48 slot ship before leaving the first 5 solar systems... just tryin ta help Also if your doing the Atlas quests, dont forget that every time you get to atlas to pick up your next advancement. to run around on the floor around and below your ship and walk over the lights. they teach you new words.

Save your money and just salvage crashed ships. You can do this on your birth planet and if youtake the time, can leave it with a maxed out ship for free. it takes time because the abandoned ships will be +/-1. Once you get yout Atlas Pas v.1, you can get a free upgrade to your exosuit every time you visit a new space station. The hardest thing for me to find upgrades for was my multitool. . Every time a new one was offered or found, it was almost always a -1.

Great vid. The time to arrival to locations on planets was driving me crazy. Great tip on going to outerspace and flying down on top of it. I've been using the save and load glitch selling emeril. I have a ship with 41 slots and have 67 million credits. Looking for a ship I once saw that had 60 slots for 62 million.

Before buying a new multi-tool, disassemble all of the upgrades to the old one to get back some materials. Otherwise they get get discarded. The same probably applies to ship upgrades but I have not gotten tot he point of trying it yet. I've got to say, the game is fun but I'm disappointed that the physics are like what a 3-rd grader thinks might work in space (can't just keep accelerating forever if you have fuel for the engines?). And the buying/selling system for guns and ships is weird because you can buy a ship from an alien but you can never sell one or trade one in. it would have taken a few dozen lines of extra code to make this stuff just a little bit more realistic. And don't get me started on the color of space or the huge number of rocks floating around - i see the necessity of it but it's sure weird.

Easy money? Find a planet with venom sacks, Korvex cubes, or pearls. Take one to set off the guards, kill all but one so it calls for the big ATST looking walker, then kill everything. At that point you will or at least I have stayed at lvl 5 max alarm the entire time I was on planet. Then just take as many as you want, they never just appear out of thin air anymore. The only downside is the random sentinels will attack but just kill the one and move on. No more fighting magically appearing waves while farming.

I do know that if you puss off the bots and they come for you if you try and boost to space they'll call in a space squad after you but I'd you fly just before you break your planets atmosphere neither bots or space goons will get you and your wanted level will lower fast.

These aren't hidden game play mechanics, the only thing that could even come close to counting as a hidden game play mechanic would be the melee boost, but everyone's pretty sure that's just a bug and will be removed in a later patch, everything else that you've explained here is just common sense.

if you look for ships with more slots, than you need to fly forward in the middle of the galaxy, my ship hast 29 slots and if i wait in a space station than i have the opportunity to buy ships with over 40 slots, the price is up to 68 mill. units, but it doesn't matter how many slots my ship has...

upgrade your ship by visiting crash sites, these are easiest found from transmission towers you upgrade one slot at a time and don't have to spend 60million credits.

If you are going inside the space anomalies that appear as you travel, the large cylinder-shaped object on the right-side of the room as you walk in has a multi-tool there. Generally, it's 2 slots larger than the one you have (up to a max of 24, obviously).

Don't bother spending money on new ships...just search for distress calls, and trade up every time you find something with more slots. It takes a while...but it's free. (sort of)

+MasterfulPaladin yeah you trade your ship for the crashed one. what i did was get to 47 slots then got picky and on my 48 slot until i found the one i wanted. crashed ships are also a really good source of materials. if you take the ship and break down all the tec you can take the resources back to your ship. just make sure you know where your ship is so you don't lose it in the swap

You can dismantle the stuff and get half back. It's pretty much worth it as the new ships will have material do. Do this several times and your inventory will be full (even without a certain trick which will speed this even more up but will be patched soon)

Anyone seen ship cost inflation? I was keeping a list in starter zone of ship prices and was seeing 25slots for 2.3mil and 27slots for 3.16mil. Then I salvaged a wrecked 24slot (my first upgrade). Now those same 25 & 27 slots ships are selling for 4.5mil & 6.4mil. WTF???!!!

Heridium is pretty common on many planets. And when a planet has it, it usually has a lot of it via those huge towers you can blast. They're usually easier to spot on dead worlds without much plant life as said towers stick out like a sore thumb then.

Actually he did outright lie about it. When asked he said the chances were very small (of two players meeting) implying the reason was the large number of stars and how small the chances would be that you and another person would even find each other. However, what he really meant (but did not say) was that we are on different servers so even if we do find the same planet and look at it at the same time we won't see each other, we won't see changes others have made to the planet, and in short he lied assuming we wouldn't be in a position to disprove him but of course it happened shortly after release with two people live streaming from the same planet and neither could see the other. For a comprehensive list of his half-truths, exaggerations, and removal of features still being advertised in the official STEAM store page check reddit. On the positive side it's a pretty game and it's fun transitioning from planet surface to orbit and then moving to a new solar system. However there's almost nothing to do beyond upgrading your equipment in order to better allow you to... upgrade your equipment.
