many existential songs and themes can convey emotion in any way that they are formed, but this is one of the only songs I have ever seen that shows different emotion with the speed change. at the average speed, the song demonstrates a desperate, slow struggle of trying to maintain life and safety, while the impending sense of the c l o w n is always there with the drums and offbeats in the background. at a faster pace, the struggle is desperate. You need to leave, and your life is on the line. No mistakes, this is the final shot. The final chance. Don't mess this up. This is an amazing piece, and it aged UNBELIEVABLY well. I don't understand how you do it, but I'm glad you do.

I mean Hank did fail to defeat demon Tricky at the end of madness 6 after all, and with Tricky being a twisted clown, I can totally see why the beginning of a madness episode featuring him as a main antagonist would feature a silly sound a clown would play, only now it's slow, spooky, and twisted. Just like Tricky.

I still to this day absolutely love this theme and I love how it contains this new version of the motif from Madness 6's track "Train Madness". The song really did a good job of linking Madness 6 and 7 together and be this audible representation of how the story has evolved between the two installments. Also that melody from "Train Madness" is so damn catchy.

I do have a pretty soft spot for 6.5 and 5.5. I remember bits and peices of what my thought process was when I listen to them and it makes me smile. It's hard to explain, like, the further along Madness went the more complicated it got. Complicated isn't the right word for it...more like detailed. In the beginning it was a very linear thing to convey, musically. The plot development of the plot brought about more characters and more emotions to conjure up. I don't know if I'm making sense but intricate! That's the word! Madness started out as a simple plot line to follow, mostly, and then developed into a much more intricate adventure. At least that's how I interpret it. That's kind of the direction the music took as well. More and more layers to score.

My favorite thing of this music is how it conveys Hank in his vulnerable state. The man is tired of fighting and just wanted to die in peace. Yet, the clown kept reviving him to continue to be his 'plaything'. Hence why Hank decides to run away from the clown demon, while still capable of fighting the agents blocking his path.
