People forget that Madonna was one of the first female comic book villains on film. I love her Breathless era.

Breathless is an awesome character, and Madonna brings her to life!

Sooner or Later also won the Oscar for best song… so while Madonna doesn’t technically have two Oscars, she did sing two Oscar-winning songs.

Although "technically" Madonna didn't win best song, I read that the song she composed for the movie A League of Their Own could have still been nominated but apparently since it was written by Madonna they didn't let it be nominated otherwise it would have won

Dick Tracy is madonna's best role (s) for me she fit it perfectly and its accompanying im breathless album was also an artistic triumph with serious swing/jazz vibes.

A side note… after Dick Tracy, Disney was planning on doing a film version of Evita with Madonna and Mandy Patinkin( seeing how they pretty much auditioned for the movie with their duet from Dick Tracy… What Can You Lose) but it fell through.

Michael and Madonna never dated.. they were friends for a while, they hung out a few times, but they were so different.. Madonna wanted to try and change his look, he didn't want to.. and what's annoying is Michael's fans always try to discount Madonna's career and legacy, but she's just as important in music history as he was..
@Camille_Anderson3 ай бұрын
I agree, she deserves to be acknowledged more, but his fans are a little rabid at times. Madonna is more of a crusader outside of creating brilliant art. She openly fights for women's rights, sexuality, homophobia and racism. Her music evolved better, too. His legacy is lasting, but Prince & Madonna inspire more, imho.

My cousin worked security at Danceteria, and Madonna was very insistent about having her single played. She would do just about anything to get close to the DJ. She developed a nickname, whichwas the BJ girl.

she left the breakfast club and formed madonna and sky and then emmy then solo. Vogue was not written for Dick Tracy. Warner requested a song to be on the bside for Keep It Together. Warner execs decided the song was too good to be a bside and made it an aside and demaned it be added to I'm Breathless to ensure it selled

Madonna at one point, had a fantastic deal with Disney! What happened? I won't say, other than she must have stepped on someone's toes or Jefferey Isenberg or other's with her refusal to take direction, may/might have blown her career with Disney? I worked for Disney during that era & she was supposed to play Virginia Hill in Bugsy opposite Warren Beatty & quite a few other roles. It's a shame that she couldn't/wouldn't partake in any of those forthcoming film projects. Madonna has always been headstrong, opininated, stubborn, ruthless, cruel & biting, but hey, it was alway up to her of what to do with her film career? She actually either turned down The Fabulous Bakers Boys,Music in my Heart, Chicago, and countless other film projects. What happened? Because of her inability to listen, take direction, be nice/friendly among the crew, producers & most importantly, the directors, she was nonetheless either fired, passed over & merely just not mention anymore in further film projects. She had it made at one time & through Warren Beatty, she at one time, had the pick of roles/parts to behold. But Madonna has always had a temper & she always wanted things to run hjer own way. Alas, still someone should have convinced her to either take much more substantial film roles/parts or & taken broadway musical plays/theater. What a shame that she never ever pursued much more of a an advising team to either push her in that direction, or heavily advise her to further push herself into acting & theater roles/parts.

Shame? I think the whole movie going world was done a huge favour that Madonna's film career belly flopped!
@Dr_Madonna4 ай бұрын
She turned down Baker Boys because the subject matter wasn’t interesting for her. Music of the Heart, she parted ways with Wes Craven over creative differences. Madonna however was passionate about this project and took violin classes (there are many paparazzi photos of Madonna holding her violin case going to and from rehearsals.. she would write about her enthusiasm with this movie that was then called “fiddle fest” in her fan club magazine “icon”, she even took the Harlem violin project troupe of students on her “Power of goodbye “promo tour, where they performed on stage with her ) The finished movie, is not that great, yes, Meryl is fine , but the film is disjointed and Feels like a tv movie in two parts stitched together. Chicago was all set to go, there are photos of her and Goldie online after meetings etc, but Weinstein put a stop to that picture, calling them both too old to play. You can find video of Goldie talking about the Chicago drama to Andy Cohen on watch what happens live.

@@synergylovescompanyexactly what I was going to say. Can you imagine Madonna willingly being controlled and pigeonholed by a major corporate entity? No. And as for her being stubborn, that’s not entirely fair. Directors and other actors have said she is very hard working and collaborative. I think Madonna like to expand her horizons and work with other creative people she sees on her level or a higher level. Madonna was never going to be a Disney princess… and she was only ever Disney-adjacent, with Hollywood and Touchstone, not the Disney flagship brand. The woman who did a book called Sex wasn’t ‘Disney’ material. Lol
