Both are powerful performances which showcase Madonna's much wider range like Gaga. Plus, Madonna sang those songs after she danced rigorously so Madonna CAN sing!! With Gaga's limited range, she can only do pop songs like edge of glory and gaga cannot sing those Evita songs for sure.

Hey, thanks for pointing out about Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd, they specifically wrote "You Must Love Me" for Madonna to sing since Madonna has a much wider range. I doubt they would even consider Gaga with her limite range. What about "Masterpiece", Madonna wrote it and won an Golden Globe beating gaga and elton. And at least Madonna can sing those songs and was able to perform them at the Oscar. Gaga has yet to perform at the Oscar and none of her songs are won at either Oscar or Golden Globe.

With the right directors, Madonna can demonstrate she can do a decent job in acting. Ex. "A League of Their Own" with director Penny Marshall, which is a huge hit and Madonna got top billing too. "Desparately Seeking Susan" was a sleeper hit and her acting was praised. Director Quentin Tarantino also praised Madonna's acting in "Dick Tracy" as well. And of course her Golden Globe winning role in Evita. What has Gaga got, NADA, no Oscar performances, lost to Madonna at the Golden Globe. Shameful!

Madonna has a number of great roles and even won a Golden Globe to proof to you haters that she can act with the right directors. I guess you don't know that Directors direct the actors. Not only Gaga got caught lip synching Poker Face, she did the same on SNL with heavy backing tracks for Judas during the choruses and her lip movements didn't even match the vocal. Just compare that horrific Judas peformance to Madonna's Bad Girl performance on SNL with almost no backing tracks, pure organic performance again with a wider range. Madonna SNL performance definitely outshines gaga's SNL performance.

Dude, all artists uses some form of fixing and sound editing. But if you listen to the Evita soundtrack, Madonna did not use auto-tune and you can clearly hear Madonna's vibrato and her techique of using her diaphragm to sing. While all Gaga stuff, from Poker Face to Judas to Born This Way are all auto-tuned and computerized and those songs do not sound organic like Madonna's Evita songs.

Madonna's voice is powerfully unique and distintive, when you hear Madonna's angelic voice, you know instantly it's Madonna. Whereas Gaga's sounds extremely generic, very much like a nasty version of Pink with a dash of Christina's voice.. Sweetie, if high notes are done right, there is no need to scream and screech which Gaga does a lot... screamming to hit the high notes is just poor technique for singers with narrow range.
