I think no one in pop before Madonna did something like this. She opened the road for a lot of artists through the last three decades. Drowned Word was her most original and artistic show. The musical arrangements are beautiful; the visuals amazing. I hope she will do something similar on her next tour.

This tour was ahead of its time. I like the way that she performed these two songs and this era was so beautiful. She was in her 40´s and the dance routine during the "Sky Fits Heaven" song was complicated. Madonna has been in great shape for the majority of her career when she is on tour. She has the ability to do complicated dance routines that even pop stars half her age struggles to do. :)

when this concert debuted on HBO back in the day, I went to view it with a gang at a friend's place in SF. In and around the Mission and Castro neighborhoods, people literally had their windows decorated with madonna stuff. Like it was a national holiday or something that day. I smiled. We had a good audio set up and one of my older friends kept saying things like. "what's wrong with the sound? it's sounds all fuzzy and distorted?" the rest of us chuckled.
