I always thought Madonna was simply too famous and independent to even need a husband on her arm. She was the most talked about artist worldwide during the 80s and 90s . Sean couldn't handle the success and fame that she acquired . It was always obvious from the beginning of their marriage .

Whether or not he was abusive, Madonna denied it. I don't even think such was mentioned in the book her brother wrote. He was her first big love so you always leave a piece with those. It took a little more time for his career to take off but he's been very successful in film and as an activist. It may be getting better these days but men generally don't like it when their women get all of the attention. Add problems dealing with the media too... Egos. And both of them have big ones.

Remember that domestic violence doesnt have to always mean physical abuse. It can be emotional, mental, financial and even spiritual abuse. Its their business and no one else needs to know what happened in their marriage. If they have still remained friends thats great. Well done her for not putting up with his behaviour for too long. This whole report could be summed up in a single word : ALCOHOL. She had a similar problem with her "Guy" who liked hanging out at pubs. She likes her boys "bad" so that is what she chose. Sober people may seem "boring" to drinkers but you will have a much better chance of a mature, respectfully communicative, and lasting relationship if both people are sober.
