Madonna's birthday today - and the news came in that she has made a deal with Warner to return to them after 20 years. I couldn't be happier. Sire/Warner was the first record label she signed with and stayed with for 20 years, and she was massive under them (not that she has not been massive away from them). But... in recent times I have been worried that her legacy gets fucked up because people are so hateful toward her and it's like some folks forgot that before any of the younger artists, she paved the way for them. She is the most successful female entertainer with a string of hits spanning decades, only second to Michael Jackson, and she should be respected for that. Warner knows her worth and the worth of her legacy which is impressive in every way. So excited for the celebratory deluxe albums they will be putting out in 2022. Long live the queen of pop.

About Warner, she owns her own label Sire Records and Warner is used for its competencies only, meaning that she's doing absolutely what she wants, the Warner role is just to say "OK Miss Sire, do absolutely what you want"! @@lebusraconte3040 Madonna doesn't own Sire Records, never did, she was signed to Sire in the beginning of her career. She owns (or at least used to own) Maverick Records, her own label under Sire and Warner Bros, launched in the beginning of nineties. But she parted ways with Warner with whom she was the first 20 years of her career when she cut a deal with Live Nation, and thereafter, she signed contracts with other record labels only to distribute her music. That said, Warner doesn't manage everything for her even if she did cut a deal with them again, they only continue to manage her music. And DEAR, no one is saying she isn't doing what she wants. Obviously she does exactly what she wants, she's Madonna. What I meant is that considering her legacy, an entity that was truly invested in her in the beginning (and is now again) will make sure that she is uplifted in a way that she deserves, and any products spanning her career, past re-releases or future releases that they also gain from, will be marketed properly and cared for in a way that some other entity who hasn't had such a long business relationship with her, might not - simply because they try to make a quick buck instead of putting focus on her entire career. She was with Warner from beginning of 80s to the end of 00s, so Warner is very much invested in her music back catalogue and future releases, so it's obvious they will handle her legacy with utmost care as they have profited off of her for a very very long time. So don't DEAR me. The deal is not fake news, go to her website and read the facts..

I think many fans feel elated with the news, at least from what I have seen on social media, so a great 63rd bday for her and the fans. :)

So much, that originally she thought it'd be too much of a contrast to the other Like A Prayer themes, but in the end decided it would provide much needed light relief on such a dark album.

Gorgeous Madonna shot by the amazing Herb Ritz with mermen. Pop-Art at it’s finest. And even though it’s not a favorite of the queen herself, it’s a song that you can play, listen to and move to anytime, it’s a classic. You hear it on the radio at grocery stores, etc. you start bopping your head to the rhythm. It’s very much like True Blue. She can rearrange this song today, like she did with True Blue during Rebel Heart Tour ( she did some great revisits to some of her very under the radar songs, like she did Who’s That Girl, I cried, lol) and it would be such a delight. The point is, it’s timeless.

@François I don't agree at all. After COAD (2005) a masterpiece, rebel heart was a good album and should have been a great album if that leaker hadn't obliged her to change many songs. But I agree with you that MDNA and Madame X are not great album, even if many fans really love her last album. I find it too experimental. Anyway I'm happy to have known your point of view. But we can only express subjective judgements. Many people have a different way to see what we are sure to look in the right way, so I prefer to add "to me" after every sentence 😁 bye Francois 😊

The 90s were simpler times. It came out in 89 but it wasn't until the early 90s this song made to the European charts. She was being provocative with "like a prayer", "vogue" or "justify my love". It was nice to have a nice break before she came out with her controversial album "justify my love" the year after. Here is a quick history my friend.

I love this video..Herb Ritts who was Madonna's good friend and one of her personal favorite photographers did this as his first video..she gave him 3 weeks to learn how to do video..she challenged him because she believed in him and it's an iconic video and Herb did Love Will Never Do for Janet and Chris Isaak's Wicked Game video afterwards
