The Oscars performance is Iconic in Madonna fandom. This is clips from the movie which is the film adaptation of the comic about Dick Tracy the detective fighting gangster crime - set in the 30’s I believe. Madonna plays Breathless Mahoney - a lounge singer who is under control of the gangster club owner boss Big Boy (Al Pacino). She released an album called I’m breathless which is songs from the movie and songs inspired by the movie, characters and timeline. I it’s Madonna’s Jax album.

I think it’s good that you watched and heard the film/album version because it will allow you to fully appreciate the live Oscars version which has a fabulous new arrangement that’s performed by the spectacular Academy Awards orchestra. Make sure you select a high quality video to watch (there is a 4k version on KZbin!) as the performance is from 1991 and there are a lot of low quality versions on here. I love your reactions and think you’re doing a great job!

Her character in Dick Tracy was Breathless Mahoney a lounge singer and she totally had that vibe that you described. You’ll notice the film had a comic strip look , Dick Tracy was a detective in the comics. But you should really watch the live Oscar performance of this song . Evita is a must watch movie showcasing Madonna’s talents.

I think you'd really enjoy Dick Tracy and would also recommend Evita, A League of Their Own, and Desperately Seeking Susan. BTW everyone suggesting reacting to the live performance at the Oscars are 100% correct. That is one of Madonna's most iconic live performances spanning her entire career. Also, Michael Jackson was her date that evening :)

hi this was the first movie based on a comic book. the movie was made in colors that reminded me of the comic book. madonna even won an oscar for this song singing it live at the awards ceremony and she was accompanied by michael jackson sitting next to each other every time they were framed they did the same movements. this is a nice movie to see

🤦‍♂️ Oh no. This should have been a reaction to her Oscars performance. You missed out. It’s one of the most memorable performances in Oscars history. Funny, hearing this version again. Does not even compare. Dick Tracy is a comic strip detective made into a film. She plays Breathless Mahoney, a sultry lounge singer. It’s about 1930’s gangsters. Pretty good movie. Evita is better. Desperately Seeking Susan is a very fun 80’s flick. I’m the same. Make my own opinions, screw critics.

Madonna's best movies are the ones with female directors, namely: Desperately Seeking Susan from 1985 and A League Of Their Own from 1992. I've also seen Evita from 1996, Who's That Girl from 1987, and The Next Best Thing from 1998. The rest I can't speak to.

I definitely would recommend Evita before Dick Tracy. Evita is predominately a Madonna vehicle, while in Dick Tracy she is a supporting character for a Warren Beatty vehicle.

Dick Tracy is a comic character and the movie is very fantasy-action-detectives kind of movie, Madonna plays the singer at the night club. Body of Evidence is a murder mystery thriller, no music, just police investigation, trials and very erotic thriller, and Madonna plays a murder suspect. Evita is a musical about Eva Peron, who was the First Lady of Argentina, played by Madonna (she won a Golden Globe for that)

The film is actually pretty decent beautifully made and filmed all star cast Warren Beatty is Dick Tracy. He’s a real do good we Al Pacino, Kathy Bates, James Cann, Dustin Hoffmann, Dick Van Dyke and many more. Beautifully produced it has a very comic book feel because it was based on comics so the Sunday comics were colored so the colors were very bright and lots of art decor since the comic was started in 1931. Dick Tracy was way ahead of its time. They even had a version of the Apple watch . Breathless Mahoney was the character Madonna played. She was a gun moll Also, if you get the chance, watch “League of their own” she’s great than that. That’s a great movie. It’s about the women’s professional baseball team that was developed in the 1940s during the war.

Yeah, she starred in this movie as Breathless Mahoney - not the best movie I would say, but you really need to check out the movie Evita with Madonna as the leading character Eva Peron, the wife of the Argentinian president Juan Peron... She's amazing there, and I think she got a Golden Globe award for the role - also you should check out Madonna's Don't cry for me Argentina wich is the soundtrack to the movie, Evita :)
