@mrandrewhowell I wonder tho how BARKAlona managed to stop them in the 2009 ucl final even tho both of the starting full backs Dani alves and eric abidal were missing in that game...😢 I did watch the game live and I think it was the possession and especially the 1st goal that BARKA scored which was against the run of play!! If united stayed Calm they definitely wud have won the 2009 UCL!! BARKA really struggled against Chelsea in the semis that season!!

The doubt is not about ability…it’s about the disorder in the locker room. I’ve been a real Madrid fan for over 20 years now. I’ve seen a lot of big names come and go. Not all of them worked out obviously, but I never really had doubt about how things will work beforehand. This is the first time I’ve had that doubt. And it’s not without reason. The antics that Mbappe has kept up with behind the scenes at PSG worry me. From getting managers fired, to controlling transfers and starting lineups and formations, the guy’s ego is in a completely different stratosphere from anyone before him. He always expresses his desire to play LW, but that’s Vini’s spot. What kind of problems will he cause when he’s forced to play down the middle? The guys ego was so ridiculous he refused to track back for his own country in a WC final, you think he’s going to put in that extra effort for RM? These are the things that worry me.

Hi guys love the podcast, I'd like to share some amazing stats about the Legend Toni Kroos (that you may or may not know) sorry for the long message. Kroos has had a passing accuracy of over 90% every season since 2012 when he was at Bayern. During his full 10 year tenure at Real Madrid his passing accuracy hasn't dipped below 90% His passing accuracy has been between 92-95% the last 10 years. Kroos also holds the record for most balls into the final third in both La Liga and the Champions League, and averages anywhere between 1900 -2200 passes per season. (This is for those who say he only passes backwards or sideways) He's also had 5 years in a row where he achieved over 1900 passes across the season I'll post his stats below. 2015/16 - 2277 passes out of 2436 93% 2016/17 - 1910 passes out of 2079 91% 2017/18 - 1927 passes out of 2081 92% 2018/19 - 1932 passes out of 2078 92% 2019/20 - 2182 passes out of 2342 93% In the 2021/22 and 2022/23 season he achieved 95% but I can't find his total numbers for those seasons aswell as this season just gone. It absolutely blows my mind that his passing accuracy as remained above 90% for the last 10 years.

Good post man. Kroos has been the keystone of so much Real Madrid success. He is truly irreplaceable and many people in Madrid are worried more about his retirement than excited about Mbappe's signing. He has rarely missed a game over his RM career, but when he has, the difference has always been really obvious. This was one of his best seasons as well so expect the numbers to be up there. Those passes into the final third are so so important, but more than that, he always knows when to do it and when to recycle it to wait on it coming back to him for the next chance to find the winger. He even improved a lot defensively this year playing in the double pivot making some key tackles and reading runs from midfield. What a legend and a huge loss to the game. I've never wanted Germany to win anything but I'm hoping they do this year and he gets his name on the balon dor. He already deserves it in my view.

To rope a dope... You need the "dope". What was Borussia's plan, to press non-stop and launch all their players in the counter for all 90 minutes? As to finishing... Adeyemi has scored 5 goals all season. He plays because he is fast, not because he is good. You get the speed. You also get the lack of quality.

Here in Madrid many people compares Bellingham to Di Stefano, one of the best players of the history and the founder of Real Madrid ´s legend. With Di Stefanos you had 12 or 13 players on the pitch becase he could join the defense and recover balls, construct the game as midfielder , and to score goals as much as Puskas another striker legend. I recommend you to watch the final when Real Madrid won the 5th European cup against Eintracht in Glasglow that is considered the best match in this history of the football to understand better the similarities between them. Di Stefano signed the phrase that appears in the exit corridor to the pitch from the dressing room that says none player is as good as all toguether. The current team is involved on this mentality because players like Bellingham and of course becuase Ancelotti.

You're right Gary, Jude is an 8 or 6. He's like a Frank Lampard rather than a Zinedine Zidane. And Micah is right. Even when it's not his day, he still sticks to the game plan. He is where his team needs him to be. It wasn't a total coincidence that he intercepted that ball for the assist for the 2nd goal. He was where he is supposed to be, in between the center backs. He will revert to his natural position with Mbappe in the squad.

Jude Bellingham is set for greatness maybe not now but he's going to get a Ballon d'or one day. he is already one of the best midfielders in the world if not the best. He is a proper football player with skills, diterminiation , aura, competitiveness and great mentality he is the key for England to Win a European trophy or even the world cup in the future. The EPL and its media hyping players without even a chiveing anything going into their heads, club fans as well they made England always loose they heads when play. now with Jude, he is a different mentality played most of his poressinonal career abroad with such talented squad around him Mainoo, Rice, foden, Saka and palmer if they found the right combination with Jude they will achieve great things. Real Madrid got a Gem they lost a club legend Kroos, and in 1 year maybe Modric they can't replace that but you found another type of qualities in the likes of Bellingham, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Valverde and guler

Southgate has so many ‘good’ selection headaches in midfield. I think Foden will start on the left with Bellingham in the 10 role behind Kane with the freedom to drop deeper for the ball and Foden able to come inside. The double pivot needs to be Rice and Trent. Trent’s ability to be the quarterback from deep needs to be utilised.

actually No, this is not Galacticos 2.0, that already happened when Perez signed CR7, Kaka, Benzema, Alonso in 2009. This could be labelled Galacticos 3.0 but, it isnt really. Its young, good players made into better, world class players apart from Mbappe and Bellingham.

Wasn’t the shot off the post offsides anyway? I don’t think Dortmund’s chances were all that. Their winger was through on goal and choked in front of one of the GOAT goaltenders-that was easily the best chance Dortmund had and their lack of quality shone through in that moment.

So Ancelotti has it wrong playing Bellingham as a 10 , he should do it as you say then. Bloody Ancelotti obviously hasn’t got a clue.

This is not Glalacticos 2.0. Galacticos were built around Ballon d'Or winners. Real Madrid will have one and he'll be 39. And the team is more balanced now than it was in the Galacticos.
