Great information, I wish I had this knowledge when I got my first long-tail!

It's taken a lot of time on the water and a few busted props to figure all this out

Do not beat on your prop with a hammer! Use an adjustable wrench open it till it slips on the shaft behind the prop and hit the wrench

Wow , 6.5hp on a boat that little. My 17' canoe goes fine using a tiny weed eater motor and cheap model airplane plastic props 8"-10". $0.02

They shouldn't be too hard to make yourself, the people of Thailand have been making them at home for 50 years +نجم عبدنور الحصموتي

you change between 7 and 9 inch prop.. is that the diameter or pitch ? and with is the diameter and pitch of each prop ?? Thank you.
@MADSLife7 жыл бұрын
+kb7uxe it's measured by diameter, pitch seems to stay the same between all of them. I wasn't able to find an official measurement for the pitch

Would the bigger prop be better in a river with a lot of current for the thrust/torque going upstream? Versus the smaller prop in slow/no moving water like a pond or lake for speed.
@MADSLife8 жыл бұрын
That would work, 7.5 is a good size for a river, any bigger and the engine may start to struggle a little and it's not fun when it cuts out in the middle of a rapid.

+Danny Giles good to know!
@MADSLife8 жыл бұрын
Best thing to do is get one of the packs with multiple sizes, bring them all with you and find which one fits your needs the best. Some people prefer the low torque of the 6". I don't mind having to use a little more muscle with the 7 or 7.5" to get the little extra speed. You just have to remember that bigger prop doesn't always mean higher speed.
@STKO20118 жыл бұрын
+Danny Giles I was reading smaller prop will spin faster at the same rpms as larger prop. Resulting in faster speeds with small prop vs acceleration with large prop
