I'm glad there are some of you. The only problem is that as long as your nation gets most of its income from the arms industry, you will always have a reason to provoke war situations... ...like in Ukraine...

I have also met a lot of people who don't get telephoto landscape photography, and think it's only for zooming when you're too far. Personally I love how you can play with perspective compression, and it's also great for separating interesting abstracts on those dull light days, when nothing seem to look attractive. A great example is what Michael Shainblum does. Most of his photos are taken with telephoto and they're amazing. On the subject of screen brightness, Great advice, way too many times in the past I have made a mistake of judging the exposure on how it looks on the display. Now I use screen brightness levels and zebras so often, that I actually assigned buttons to them. Also if you forget, it's handy to have presets with different screen brightness for day, night, indoors, etc.

2:22 I live in Hamburg and in last 3 months I went 3 times to Harz, so I could see the lakes, creeks or waterfalls surrounded by yellow and orange leaves, or on frosty mornings, or in the fog, or in deep winter full of snow.

Good tips, Mads! I realize, that I can spent a gray rainy day to make my camera, a brand new Nikon Z6III, more a very good precision instrument, a tool to get my photo's taken. In the field it is always too late. Anticipating the conditions I can make useful presets, tha really improve my photography. For the rest: f112 and be there. Greetings, Bert.

I retired from media work a few years ago, I have not a pro- photo shoot since then, but I still take my camera out once in awhile and yes I still watch the beginner videos I sometimes need to keep the basics in my mind but it all comes back to me. LOL I like the joke but living in the USA it more likely to be a Starbucks on every corner, The city I live the main street has one McDonalds and four Starbucks on it, the street is 5 miles long that 8 km. My one piece of advice for beginners buy quality over quantity, get the basics a good tripod, a few decent filters and a good jacket. Rent the lenses you want to get to see if they work for you and nothing wrong with used and/or refurbished gear. The in between seasons when the colors are drab that is a good time to go black and white.

As always, great info! One of my lingering questions is how/where to set screen brightness on my computer when editing??? (Loved the McDonalds joke! ) Thanks for taking me along!
@Oakley51004 күн бұрын
If you pick up a color calibrator, it should read the ambient light of the room and give a suggested brightness. But in my experience starting at like 20% of max is a decent starting point and making adjustments from there.

Regarding the histogram. If you find yourself with a "U" shaped histogram that is a sure-fire sign that you need to dial down the contrast.
