Hey there! This video presents ideas and methods intended to help new and experienced stitchers find new methods of doing their craft. There is no right or wrong way to be creative or make art. If this works for you, I'm glad it helped! If you have questions, please ask! If you don't like this method, please move on. This is the best method I’ve found to make patches out of cross stitch!! Thanks a lot for sharing it, I’ve already made a square one and a circular one and it worked for both shapes.
@MadXStitcher5 жыл бұрын
I'll be updating this soon with an even easier method that works for all kinds of irregular shapes. But I'm always glad to see people still find the old method useful!

Hello, can you explain how to do a circular one? I need to make one for my project.
@baileypardy3407 Жыл бұрын
AHA! Thank you! I’ve been trying to figure this out on my own and this helped me realize the main problem I kept creating was cutting the edging too close to the project! Giving it that wider edge to work with makes things so much cleaner

Thanks for this! Finished a pattern ages ago that I wanted to stitch on and just couldn't find a good way to do it that didn't involve ironing on backing or potential fraying of the aida. Gonna give this bad boy a try. Very funny reveal though; been putting patches on my jacket for the last few months, i've only JUST realised 'floss' means that sorta thread. Seems to be an American term? I kept seeing people suggest putting patches on their battle jackets with floss and I genuinely thought people meant dental floss. loooool.
@wenlalala Жыл бұрын
😅 happened to me too! 😂 I was wondering why they use dental floss jajajajajajajajaj

I'm planning on making a few to sew onto a jean jacket. Do the cross stitched patches need special care for washing?

hey, would it be possible to paint the backside with fabric glue and cut it out directly from the canvas?? no folding or extra stitching?

awesome thank you! almost finished my first simple cross stitch and kept think... ok now what do i do with it?? being able to sew it on something will be awesome!

Not sure if this is a dumb question, but why do you go through twice as opposed to using 4 strands? Is it just because it's difficult to thread 4 strands through the eye of the needle? Thanks!

Hi, How do you prevent the fabric from fraying? When I cut the fabric it frays and destroys the pattern.
@marsryan79403 ай бұрын
You can try using zig zag scissors. This helps prevent fray. And maybe cut a little farther out than you “need” to so if it does, it’s not too big of a deal.
@nmk_official5 жыл бұрын
would you recommend using heat n bond on the back of the patch for protection?
@MadXStitcher5 жыл бұрын
I am actually posting an updated version of this at some point this month, in two parts. Because I've actually started using interfacing on the back, which makes the edging process a billion times easier. I'm doing a video just on the interfacing first, and then going to talk about it in relation to patches specifically.

Can you show making a patch on a non-square cross stitch piece?

I don't make a lot of patches, but there are a few you can find in my deviantART gallery.

I do not. It's something I just made up as I went, and since it was there, I used it in the thumbnail.

Can you cut it out directly around it without a border or will it fall apart? I’m new and the first thing I made I want to cut out but I don’t want it to fall apart

How would you attack this to for example a backpack?
@MadXStitcher5 жыл бұрын
You'd stitch it on, or use heatbond to iron it.

Sorry, but I don't understand how you got a loop.

Sorry I missed this comment. Things get buried by KZbin and shoved in weird places sometimes. You might be referring to a loop start. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYeUnn6Mjb6qoKs

why did i decide to do this method on 16ct black aida instead of just buying some interfacing ;u; pray for me
@Prismatic_Charlie Жыл бұрын
btw ty for this tutorial, i'm broke as a joke and having an alternate method that doesn't necessitate a purchase is a lifesaver
@less_than_amateur4 жыл бұрын
what count of aida is this?
@MadXStitcher4 жыл бұрын
18ct. There's a better way to do it for higher fabric counts. I just haven't had the chance to film a good video yet.

Could you sew a piece of fabric on to the cross stick fabric and then do the edges without folding?
@MadXStitcher5 жыл бұрын
I actually don't even use this method anymore, but haven't had the chance to do an updated video. Get yourself some heavy interfacing, and iron it onto the back. Then you cut it to size and do the stitching like I demonstrated here. Eliminates the folding, and makes non-polygonal shames much easier.
@lillief.90455 жыл бұрын
@@MadXStitcher thank you. I will try that
