This a curious case.When you have a real Diva having a go at a wicked, sexy little song,you have something precious. As precious was Satie himself, specially when he composed his magnificent pieces for the piano. But he was a French man and sometimes he got devilish and decided to compose other less ethereal pieces like this one.Talking about the life of a girl who triumphed in the Empire,a naughty place for men in Picadilly ,London.. The song or aria in this particular case,reveals what she had to do to keep men excited.The sexy words the moving of petticoats, always trying to amuse but never going to far. Of course this is completely innocent nowadays and it takes us to the beginning of the Twentieth century when every bad thought was almost a sin. Cute deja vu of those times of cabarets and double sense words.Incredible interpretation of this wonderful singer that lifts it to a point it can meet Manoli s expectations.. Fun and ❤️ beautiful.This is a curious piece to relax from the last,so solemn and sad. Thank you Manoli for being so amusing selecting your favourites.

I often try to pick contrasting voices/pieces. Keeps it interesting and a good variety. You’ll find many times I’ll do a high soprano then a bass or reverse

@@manolis.799 And you do very well.Specially in these last two cases,the difference was really great.But to think that your beloved Puccini only wrote Colline s aria for a BASS left me puzzled.Mainly because you started singing and loving ópera after watching his ópera prima. I learn a lot from you Manoli.Yesterday I also revised Turandot to find those famous words you say are considered an aria.But first I had to stop to listen to Non piangere Liu,one of my favourite ones. I was walking to my daughter who beloves Puccini , specially Turandot and La Boheme. I sent her Colline s and my favourite version of Non piangere Liu. She asked me what my favourite opera was nowadays.I m puzzled I told her.I don't think I ll ever have a favourite opera again.Just favourite arias and representations... Sills was a discovery for me.I can't keep listening to her almost every day.And all that we owe it to you,dear Manoli.
