Miss this song, brings back so many good memories. These guys are my most favorite band of all time and this video is so original, watched it more than six years ago, still watching it right now, still inspiring..

I don't mean to question Mae's singer's talent, but I think the reason why he sounds so good acoustic, is because he's playing in a key significantly lower than in the original CD recording, so the notes are easier for him to hit.

very good point, but also remember that he is sitting down. I sing very high in the register of soprano and when i sit down, because my diaphram(sp) is blocked, i cannot hit as high. also, he is playing and moving a lot at the same time. All those things dramatically affect your ability to sing properly. mae is a-mae-zing (hehe)

because in the studio, you can record a song a day. here hes doing songs back to back and if he hits all those high notes hell burn out his voice. keep in mind this song was recorded in 2001 when he was 20 and since then his voice has gotten slightly deeper so 4 steps have been lost because they changed the key and they tune the guitar a half step down. but they are still amazing :)

Ya I guess, so much audio toning now a days.

Yeah, this song is amazing. Now it's even more amazing because his voice isn't weird at the beginning.

Of course there's auto tune, but that doesn't really explain why he's 4 half steps down. Auto tune only corrects pitch problems, it doesn't get you to hit notes 4 half steps higher if you sing in a completely different key. And I'm not saying they do only one song every day, I'm saying they don't have to track vocals for all of the songs in one day. It usually takes 2 or 3 days to track an album and mix it and whatnot.

@xAndrewxLegitx i meant you can record the vocals of a song. like you can do a vocal track a day. not an entire song. and i actually know of albums done by local artists here that have taken about 3 days. they have anywhere from 5-9 songs

I actually like this version primarily because I can sing at this pitch without straining my voice. :))

can someone get the tabs/chords he is playing here I cant figure it out

Well I looked this song up because I thought that there is no way anyone can sing the clean high notes that are sung on the actual CD and I think I was right. I mean its a great song and he is still a good singer, but he avoids the notes that he cannot hit in this acoustic version.
