Wow, so many tourists ! We were lucky enough to have gone back in 2007 before most tourists knew about it. We didn't do it as part of a tour either. We took a train from Bangkok to Mahachai, took a ferry across the river, walked to Ban Laem station, and took the Ban Laem train to the train market. Maybe 5 other tourists there

Most of these people come to the market to see the train so if they buy some food there that’s a bonus for the vendors , if they moved the market a lot of these vendors would go out of business. Were I live we don’t really have many markets , only big supermarkets , so if there was a supermarket that had a train going through it , I would certainly use it to buy my groceries.
