A day trip with best tour guide, Bo, from BANGKOK about an hour's journey to visit the very unique market - TALAB RON HUB - or MAEKLONG RAILWAY MARKET. We arrive at 8 AM and get a chance to take in the market packed full of fresh fruits, vegetables, and seafood. It is one of the largest seafood markets in Thailand. Bo buys some MANGOSTEEN and RAMBUTAN fruit for me to try (delicious!). We walk down to the MAEKLONG STATION placard then back in time to catch the 8:30 AM train arriving from BAN LAEM STATION. Umbrellas extend into the railway as shoppers walk directly along the tracks and, when it's time for the train to come through, everyone scurries, the awnings are pulled up, people move to the side, and the vendor's carts are pushed back into their stalls to make room for the moving train heading to and from Maeklong station. When the train passes, the umbrellas come back down and everyone continues their shopping as if nothing has happened. The market's been around prior to 1905 when the Maeklong Railway Company built a train service between SAMUT SONGKRAM (Maeklong Station) and SAMUT SAKON (Ban Laem Station) passing directly through the market. Rather than move, the market stayed and the vendors work their way around the train's arrivals and departures which pass through the market 8 times a day. Remarkable Thailand experience!

Thanks Ginpad!...yes it's about 1/2 a foot distance on either side from the onlookers...but just think, the Thais there have been dealing with that train since 1905 coming and going 7 days a week, 8 times a day....it's the influx of tourists that make it dangerous...thanks for view and comment
