This had me almost in tears en route to Wells on the 376 bus. This afternoon. I am hoping that at the Christmas Carol service on the 23rd December to hear it and perhaps to sing some of it. My own self. My brother passed away just last week! And this carol has become somewhat more special.

"37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; 38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. 39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out." (Luke 19) Wow, when the choir starts shouting for joy with that "Gloria!" cheer, it totally reminds me of this scene from Jesus' later life! 💝🥰💖

I feel something different! A great sense of sadness - three weeks before Christmas 2023 - my brother passed away! I still feel that even today and almost 4 months after his funeral service! I used the second verse at it. We were still in the Christmas season and I will want to do this on the 6th December of this year! Because I want to!

Bob: Back in 2007, I had the nerve to actually nominate Mr. Rutter for British knighthood. Imagine, a Yank thinking he could do such a thing! Well, it turned out my letter actually reached the desk of the lady of the house at Buckingham and I guess she was quite taken with my 150-word correspondence, as two British agencies followed up with letters to me, acknowledging my letter. Mr. Rutter later told me he was quite content with his OBE honor alone.

JK, I believe worship is always changing. Having different styles of worship is more a reflection of the diversity of the people God created, than people trying to be cool. I would never go to a church for tradition alone. The most important things are: is God leading me, and is the word of God taught faithfully. It doesn't matter what the worship is like if the teaching is leading you astray. Blessings

You're right Bob. Today's music just doesn't touch anything of the past. Something about modern music is lacking... doesn't have that feel anymore.

How do you capture The wind on the water? How do you count all the stars in the sky? How can you measure The love of a mother Or how can you write down A baby's first cry? Candlelight, angel light Firelight and star glow Shine on his cradle till breaking of dawn Gloria, Gloria in excelsis Deo! Angels are singing The Christ child is born Shepherds and wise men Will kneel and adore him Seraphim round him their vigil will keep Nations proclaim him Their Lord and their Saviour But Mary will hold him And sing him to sleep Candlelight, angel light Firelight and star glow Shine on his cradle till breaking of dawn Gloria, Gloria in excelsis Deo! Angels are singing The Christ child is born Find him at Bethlehem laid in a manger Christ our Redeemer asleep in the hay Godhead incarnate and hope of salvation A child with his mother That first Christmas Day Candlelight, angel light Firelight and star glow Shine on his cradle till breaking of dawn Gloria, Gloria in excelsis Deo! Angels are singing The Christ child is born Angels are singing The Christ child is born Songwriter: John Rutter
