I think mafex in general is pretty overpriced but with super simple figures like this one its ever worse, should cost half of what it does, its good but its not almost 100 bucks good

the thing that makes it worse for DC is that mafex is the best some of these designs have like outside of Revoltech, what else is there? McFarlane? hard pass, rather pay the big bucks for a good figure instead of chump change on something I'll regret

I only buy multiples from Japan for that reason, here in the states they’re 100 retail but they’re 60 over there so I buy multiples to save on shipping

Before all the reissues I sold my original Mafex Catwoman for about $320, then like a month later the reissue was announced and I got her for actual retail, $52. I've never seen a bad review of her before. That said, she's fine. A female Nightwing-tier imo.

Comparing this to say their Gambit....good god it's a night and day difference. You'd think Catwoman would be _at least_ half the cost of that one...or most.

I had this Catwoman and sold it. I don’t like the huge gap between her lags and the lack of articulation. I’m really fond of the Amazing Yamaguchi Catwoman.

This is my favorite figure in my collection, mostly because Catwoman is my favorite character. She succeeds at everything I want her to be. I don’t want an over-designed figure of a character that intentionally has a very sleek and minimal look. The only complaints I agree with are that her elbow and toe articulation should be better, and they should’ve given her a boot or thigh swivel. For everything else, it’s exactly what I want her to be. I paid just under $70 for mine after shipping back when she was first released. Mafex prices in general have gone up, but they seem to also be raising the prices with their reissues, which absolutely sucks.

For the QOTD, Mafex should adjust prices for when figures are simple. I think the Amazing Yamaguchi Catwoman blows this out of the water.

At least they got the look right. Whereas with American figures, the simple the design is, the more the flaws stand out.

The way I see it I’d rather pay 60-80 for one actually decent representation of a character than be stuck in that loop of getting the 26 dollar ML or McFarlane and hopping it’s OK or being stuck waiting on the next one that’s gonna be just as mediocre. It really does come down to if the character is worth it to you but yeah Bane was like 68 or something and this one in no way compares to that one so I don’t like how Mafex prices their stuff relatively close regardless of what it is this one shouldn’t cost as much as Bane did

Add some like dark indigo blue for some shading on the black to like that's how black her outfit is it throwing some blue color yeah that would make it fantastic. I see that too and for the price, yes that should be added for her.

With Mafex, I don’t mind a plain design if the engineering and accessories are well above average. If 2/3 of those look bad then I pass

So it seems like your biggest issue with the figure is that it’s just too plain and you’re not getting enough for the price. I will say when this figure released originally back in 2021 it was a lot cheaper. I ordered form amiami and after shipping it was just around $80 bucks. I know the price for a lot of the recent Mafex reissues seem to have gone way up since then. However, when it comes to how simple the figure is it’s definitely heavily based on Jim Lee’s art and designs.Are u looking for them to add extra panels or seem lines to the figure MCU style or what 😂 it’s simple because the source material design was simple.

it's pretty much just what I said in the video... Shading. Better sculpt. Better articulation. Accessories. I don't think you paid attention to the video before commenting. I plainly said the plain design isn't their problem but their style of execution is.

$80 is too much though, if they can't do any of what anthony suggested, it should be half that at most, or at least 50-60

Yes the figure is a bit overpriced, (if you live in the US) and yes the elbows and feet can be better, but overall those other issue are not true. The only thing I think you have a point on is the shading but otherwise, the sculpt is fine. Its a comic character with a simple design and there is sculpting for the muscles. If you look up the source material this figure is practically one to one, she isn't brolic. Plus the shading in comics is just so you can see details that otherwise you wouldn't see in the comic world. Her and batman wear all black they could probably stand in a dark alley and we wouldn't see them, let alone their muscles, its the same in real life. Maybe they could've added more wrinkles but that's not really a problem. Also again comic character. You ask both for better sculpt and comic exaggerated proportions and when you get one you criticize it. Like her head isn't that small and her legs almost match up to how you explain human legs should size up. As for the articulation I own this thing and it does almost any pose you want. Like, you said this cant get into good crouching poses; but I literally have mine in a deep crouch with her head up on my shelf so what do you mean? You literally showed how good the range of motion is, it moves well. The only reason people say you arent using articulation right is because you only show range of motion. You never show what can actually be done with the figure. You even said once that simple articulation can be very affective which is true, I have some simple figures that pose really good. As for the accessories, besides a bendy wire whip what else do you expect with catwoman? She is a simple character who doesn't have much. The only thing I could think of is an unmasked head, some jewels, and maybe a lock picking kit but otherwise she just needs a lot of hands, her whip and some heads, which she comes with. Im not saying its a perfect figure but it is a really good one, price not withstanding depending on where you buy it. Just because it isn't hitting the top, peak, perfection we unrealistically want every single figure to be, doesn't mean its bad.

Mine wasn’t that expensive. It sucks that they are raising prices on reissues. But this is one of my favorite hush line figures.

Honestly, i probably couldn’t justify buying this. I feel like mafex figures are more bang for your buck when they have something like soft goods, like gambit or batman. In the case of nightwing, i like him a lot, but it’s more because there’s no other 1/12 scale version of him.

She looks exactly as she did in Hush. Mission accomplished. As for the pricing, its not that bad if you can offload figures you're not using anymore or just save up money for a couple of months.

Every time I see people posting in groups about mafex figures, they are always saying they are the best of the best. Then I get one, and I realize they aren't. I'm glad that Anthony has started reviewing some mafex figures again so I can avoid the bad ones

I’m glad we have Anthony too. He’s saved me a lot of money over the years. Especially on expensive and overpriced imports like these. For figures like Gambit I get it, he looks pretty cool but stuff like this, I don’t get the hype at all.

As far as comic accurate DC figures go, MAFEX is the best one right now, the only other choice you have is McFarlane which is doo doo, imo. I got several MAFEX Batman figures, including Hush and TDKR and they are some of the best Batman figures you can get at 1/12 scale, and the MAFEX Catwoman goes along nicely with Batman Hush since they are in the same style and I got her for roughly $60 so it's not too bad.

@ryantheanimator1156 I agree it's certainly some of the best accuracy wise, but I'm a collector that prioritizes articulation and ascetic over accuracy, but that's just me. Different collectors have different priorities.

Mafex is hit and miss, some figures are great, some are "okay," except either way they are like $80-$90 domestic, which is way to much for "okay." However, what they DO have is a kind of consistency. You want Hush/Knightfall? Then they're taking care of you. You want Reign of the Supermen? They've got that too. I'm hoping they hit Emerald Twilight at some point. They are also putting out an assortment of Avengers and classic Jim Lee X-men. Basically, if you want comic-accurate import figures, rather than stylized or movie versions, then Mafex is the place to be.

I sold her for $300 and 2 months later they reissued it. I just feel so dumb when I have a figure that's worth that much just sitting on my shelf. I did the same with the brown suit wolverine and my mezco mirage turtles!

I paid for this figure £60 and I still love it. Could be better and cheaper of course but which import figure is cheap? And not even Hasbro sell figures cheaper with less accessories. I preordered Titania from the Secret Wars line and she comes only with a set of spare hands nothing else, but Wolverine’s got an extra head and better articulation. Is he cost more? No unfortunately.

Definitely not worth the price sadly but it might be the best 1/12 scale Catwoman we have so I still might have to get her to add to my collection. Hopefully I can find a decent deal, maybe eBay. Wouldn't feel right paying full price, although mafex tends to hold there value in the after market.

That is a lot of money for a character in black. Thigh joint Rotating outward is all that really matters. Then the character can cross their legs when they sit down.

I think Mafex figures are overpriced to begin, like $80 is too much for these. I hate when Hasbro does the bare minimum with ML sculpt, so it's even worse for me on figures nearly three times the price

Let's be honest with ourselves, all action figures are overpriced. Whether it be Hasbro's cheapest offerings or Hot Toys triple digit monstrosities. That being said, I'd much rather pay decent money for an okay figure that I'll want to keep than a $20 nothingburger that I'll regret clogging up shelf space. Looking at you, Marvel Legends and McFarlane.

Respectable rating. This was considered “the best” 1/12 catwoman for the longest time. But with the release of revoltech, i’d say thats “the best”. Basically Revoltech takes the win overall if u dont care for accuracy and just want a good and articulated catwoman figures Mafex is the best for an accurate comic appearance. But lacks the articulation. So it really boils down to what you’re looking for in ur catwoman figure.

I've never understood the hype for mafex figures. So far the only one I have is the Terminator 2 one but it's pretty basic articulation wise. Great accessories and likeness but eh the articulation is just average I know the catwoman figures from mafex and revoltech are from different sources but when it's this basic and unimpressive, how can you NOT look at the revoltech catwoman and see that it's the superior figure lol I still got get around to buying some amazing yamaguchi figures. And as for mafex, i only want robocop lol

Too plain for me. I held off and got the Amazing Yamaguchi instead. Not a perfect fit, but super articulated (as someone like Catwoman should be) and a pretty huge range of accessories. No regrets there.

I'm totally agree. Mafex are overpriced for what they offer. Even in Japan. They're mid figures at best. Like, the bare minimum to be considered good figures (but not for the price). It's just that Hasbro and McFarlane are SO bad, that people think that these figures are amazing. And btw, I have Mafex figures in my collection. They're dissapointing for the price, and bad accesories, and worst qc.
