Silly ban to give you from the admin. One of the main points of the reddit group is to give people a good idea if the figure is for them. A video review does that a lot better then a few random pictures. Yet the Reddit Mafex post is swamped with pointless wish lists and enquires if a figure is getting a re-release, neither of which have any basis on fact that they are ever going come true or by anyone actually working at Medicom that would know about either of those things

@KaijuDaddyJapan While I understand where they are coming from it does seem odd to exclude fans with youtube channels if they dare to post their own content. I'm new to this community though and don't really know the players or the history. Are those mods affiliated in any way with Medicom? If not, my first thought is they should be trying to work with you and other youtubers to make their silly subreddit better. One hand washes the other and all that happy horseshit.

Straight after a figure has released or sold out, people post questions asking if there will be another release slot. And the wishlists are even worse, when the Medicom Exhibition every July already gives an indication of what Mafex are going to release over the next 2 plus years. The Mafex Reddit has become a cesspit.

Question: I know this is primarily an action figure channel but I plan on visiting Japan in April and really want model kits. Primarily the Bandai 1:12 Star Wars Stormtrooper Modelkit. I started buying them when they were first released and I love armybuilding them, but here in the US the prices have become wildly expensive. I used to be able to pick up a kit for around12-14 bucks each shipped. Now they are 2 to almost 3 times the cost. Do you see these kits still on shelves in Japan? Are they still cheap? If so, do you have any shops to recommend that I can go to to buy a large amount. Ive built around 40 of these kits btw. Thanks.

I honestly don’t remember seeing any recently but I’ll keep an eye out. If you’re part of the FB group send me a direct message there to remind me as you get closer to the trip. There are a few collectors in it living in Tokyo who are very helpful with info. Posting on the page might help get you answers as well. I would always check the big electronic stores as they all have toy departments that put the ones in the USA to shame. Also, in Ueno there’s a Star Wars store called Red Mercury. Well worth visiting if you’re looking for some specific Star Wars stuff.

That sounds about right from the mafex subreddit. Honestly outta all the action figure subreddits that is the most toxic one and the mods don’t help. I’ve gotten banned quite a bit myself

I mean, if it were an official group I understand the “self promotion” thing but it isn’t. And never once have I seen anyone complain about a first review of a figure being posted in a group, especially when those figures are costing near $100 or more each for people. Sometimes you only get a day to cancel an order if you want to back out. The earlier the review the better
