Something that flew over my head in my first playthrough was that Sammy almost knew about this about to happen. Not like in a sense of "he was in on it" or anything, but that he gave off the impression of knowing what would happen inevitably while they were under Marcano. "Ain't no one standing over me again, Over any of us" he says with the boatload of money they'll get to potentially buy their way out of Marcano's grip (not that it would work but still). The second Marcano shows up, he has this complete unease around him, trying to appease Marcano to try to get through at least this encounter. Sammy even heavily emphasizes what exactly makes Marcano's stack bigger, that even with Marcano getting a bigger default stack and enough to pay dues, that Sammy "put in a little extra for your troubles" to try to maybe sway the thought of what could happen. It's ultimately a futile effort since Marcano doesn't give a shit and burns the place to the ground, but it makes the pull to avenge Sammy so strong in my opinion looking back at it.

I just started the game, I hadn't heard nor seen anything for it but I knew there was gonna be a whole lot of racism. I love it so far, at the beginning, the love between this main black group and rich white men who you'd expect wouldn't want to be around these blacks because of racism. The robbery went great, Giorgi seems like a real brother, then this scene happens, the father and son exchange a look, that catches my eye as I'm confused. Even though Giorgi tells him that he shouldn't have said no to Sal's offer, something tells me that even if Lincoln agreed to it, Sal and his son Giorgi still would've betrayed Sammy, his son Ellis, and Lincoln Clay eventually. Why? Because that's how it works in the mob - very rarely, if ever, are those involved in the mob are allowed to get out of it because of all the activities that they knew about, or even if they didn't know much they still would be held in suspicion by others in the mob. The only real way out for most is by ending up lying 6 feet under.

the problem with this? Every single trailer showed that scene. Imagine if we never knew about it? That we were just a gunman for Sal and every trailer made us think we were working with Sal and Giorgi. Then this scene happen. No change in the story or anything. Just in the trailers. Because thanks to that scene all over the promoting material, we already know that Sal and Giorgi will die, that the whole crew will die and that basically, the second you touch the game, you know that everyone appart from Vito, Burke and Cassandra will die. We have no attachement to any character that Lincoln meet after he comes back from Vietnam, the Bank job feels pointless because you know its a set up, the punch line doesnt land because it landed the second the story trailer showed up. The scene itself, editing, the shots, the music, the dialogue. Masterpiece. But imagine for a second that 2K and Hangar 13 could just hold word. Sadly since the game turn around that scene and scenario, i understand why they did it. And its one of my biggest complain of the game: The gameplay is good, the music is awesome, the graphic are nice but the story (told in the game) is garbage since we know what it is about. There is no stake since, as gamers, we know how these thing work. Yeah Lincoln could've died facing Sal but we knew for a fact that Sal was going to die. The story in the cutscenes however, just as good as a gangster movie because it doesnt talk about how Lincoln does is work, its just that he do it and it scares the shit out of Sal. If Mafia 3 could just keep it quiet regarding it story, would've it been better? No, its an open-world territory conquest game. The quality of the story is only told in cutscene. But the SAID story shown in the cutscene would have been so much better.
