34:00 - thank you sooo much for this pushback, Tim. I walked proudly _into_ my local USAF recruitment office in '99 - my "patriotism" having been shaped by Desert Storm. If i had been facing the same decision in '09, i would've been running the other direction, _away_ from the recruiter's office. If i was facing the choice in '19, i might have been picketing _in front of_ the recruiter's office I can only speak for me (and, anecdotally, everyone else i've talked to who's served in the last 25 years), but it seems like the "recruitment issues" have _everything_ to do with fighting unjust wars, stop-loss programs, mental health being ignored, and attacks on the VA - i have yet to meet anyone who would recommend military service to their kids. I _also_ have yet to meet any actual servicemembers who think "wokeism" is _the_ problem.

I’m glad that he mentioned the Budapest Memorandum. This should be explained every time that we talk about our assistance to Ukraine. People don’t know about it so they think that the U.S. has no obligation there and believe that our support is just a policy choice of the current President. The isolationist Republicans in Congress should be asked if they think that we should renege on our international agreements.
@liamcullen3035 Жыл бұрын
I’m afraid to say that Trump and his ilk have already made it painfully clear that they don’t give one shit about prior international commitments. Trump speaks of pulling out of NATO, the UN, Paris Climate Accord, Iran Nuclear Deal etc. They don’t give a damn about past commitments, and are likely to just laugh in our faces should we explain the Budapest Memorandum. I’m sure the more traditional Republicans would care, but not the MAGAs. They won’t respond to guilt trips over reneging on such commitments.

Yet another discussion about wokery where its meaning is never defined. Thor says he has friends in the military who 'don't like woke' but it's not followed up by asking what specific policies they dislike. It's maddening that we are this far into the debate and yet this keeps happening.

Everybody is right & wrong about the economy. Our little black heart theory here is voters in differing localles are experiencing dramitically differing economies. Ron Brownstein of THE ATLANTIC & formerly with the LA TIMES stated in a couple of articles that Trump voting counties amounted to a little more than 32 % of the Nation's GDP in the 2016 Election. This percentage shrunk to 29% in the 2020 Presidental Election. The hog share of the National economy is going to the BLUE counties. The corresponding RED counties are the ones probably having trouble with gas prices and just paying their bills.

Another great interview with another great interviewee! I’d really love to hear Brad expand upon what he thinks of Fox News and The Daily Wire, and their roles in promoting culture wars and political propaganda. Given that he’s friends with Meghyn Kelly and knows Ben Shapiro, I’m really interested to hear his thoughts on their professional work (though I presume I could find these thoughts on twitter and facebook?)
@arthurswanson3285 Жыл бұрын
He lived on fox, daily wire and Glenn Becks nutcase network up till like 2017 or so. He excused the stupidity up till the second he no longer could. He said he supported Trump over Hillary because some special ops guy convinced him it would be the end of the country if Hillary got elected. A few years later, Trump tried to violently overthrow the country. Just goes to show you, gun guys aren't always the brightest in terms of political calculus.

I wish someone would give detail about the actions of the pizza-gate shooter. I mean, it seems his actions show he didn’t even believe it and just wanted to go show off his gun and what he wished he could do. Wouldn’t someone who believed there were kids in a basement be desperately looking around the place for the entrance to the basement? Did he do that? If you couldn’t find the basement wouldn’t you be careful not to fire your gun into the wall or ceiling? What if the kids were being hidden in there? I don’t know why I obsess over this. It just seems to easy to show (at least some of) these nuts don’t really believe their own bullshit

He got to a locked door which was to the storeroom but he thought it was the door to the basement. He fired at it. After he was in custody he said “the Intel on this wasn’t 100%”. They’ve all seen too many movies and see themselves as the hero. Someone has just been arrested because they hassled a man with his child because they didn’t think the man was the child’s father. They tried to wrestle the child away from him, in front of the child! They have been brainwashed but they are dangerous. Now they have all watched the lie that is The Sound Of Freedom film so it’s only going to get worse.
