Just as Joe strummer was telling us there would be "no more guitar heroes" Providence sent us The Mighty John McGeoch.

My favourite song of all time from one of my favourite groups of all time. And yes, that descending chord is ridiculously familiar from The Glitter Band's 'Rock 'n' Roll Parts 1&2' but it certainly isn't plagiarism. I've loved Magazine since 1978 as a 12 year old kid and still love them today 💙 *Suggestion!* 'Change' by Killing Joke. Dooo iiiit lol 😆

Kudos to those who suggested this Magazine song. Weather with Magazine, or Siouxsie And The Banshees, John McGeoch was a Post-Punk god on guitar.

He played with PIL too!
@taliesinechoes45139 ай бұрын
@@nickchristian2506 I love PIL's 1st album (which John wasn't on), but not the later ones, including the one(s) with John. Wasn't really a fan of The Armoury Show, either, which John was also in. He was also in Visage, which I also didn't like. For me his best stuff, by far, was with Magazine, and Siouxsie And The Banshees.

Brilliant track. May I please ask you to explore John Foxx era Ultravox. My sex, I Want to be a Machine etc. Absolute innovators in the very early synth / conventional instruments mix. They were who influenced Gary Numan

Oh your spoiling us with these Ferraro-Rocher Ambassador!.. no it’s not the Jools Holland live performance, that was 25 years after this and with a different guitarist , the late great John McGeoch having jumped ship to Siouxsie and the Banshees and subsequently passed away - but what a substitute , it’s the original video for the track and it’s simply flawless . Ive had a couple of hours sleep now and put me in such a great mood for this cold but sunny Saturday which in under an hour is gonna see the start of the Liverpool v Man City titanic struggle where I will be roaring the reds on ! “ Moan the Pool” 😅 👍🏴

P.s- there was a live music show on in Britain in the seventies called " something else" souxsie and the banshees played live with their track - love in a void off their second album. You will notice that the lead guitarist is the one and only Robert Smith of the cure. You can get it on u tube by typing "something else, souxsie and the banshees. If you want to sometime. Classic live banshees. Scott.

Magazine are one of those weird bands who I am not sure did a great deal, unlike the Jam or Stranglers, but maybe I am being unfair. Shot By Both Sides is by far the best in my view and the most punky song, whilst this song is perhaps more typical of them. Thanks for the mention!

Also try Feed The Enemy. There's two versions - slow and fast. The latter is a great rock song but the slow one is an exercise is restraint, atmosphere and the slow building of tension.

Great song but you should see the official video for their track "Feed the Enemy" (from their brilliant 1979 album Secondhand Daylight). It's pretty intense and haunting (especially the freezing looks from Howard Devoto😉).

'I wanted your heart' was my favourite Magazine song for years but somehow 'Permafrost' overtook it...but that one comes with a language and concept warning so might not be suitable for a reaction video.

It's a shame this recording is guitar-heavy. The bassist and especially the keyboard player add beautiful touches to contrast with repeated guitar riff.
