How does Jensen Ackles feel about Dean Winchester's final death on Supernatural?

The problem with Dean's death isn't about the character, it's just bad writing. These writers created a universe where death is effectively meaningless (one of the brothers "dies" every other season!) and expect it to have emotional stakes *this time* just because they give Dean a sad monologue and play a dramatic cover of "Carry On Wayward Son"?

I honestly always thought the show would end with both of them dying in a blaze of glory, but I don't mind the ending we got. I wish we could have gotten the scene in the roadhouse, but in my head, that happened after they left the bridge.

Actually there was supposed to be more scenes/Reunions when Dean went to Heaven (like not just reuniting with Bobby but with the other characters over the years like Mary and John Winchester, Ellen and Jo, Charlie, Ash, etc. Maybe even Castiel) But because the pandemic happened, unfortunately it wasn't meant to be and that's how the ending became what it is, which I honestly don't mind. I kinda like it but I can also understand why there's some people out there that wouldn't or don't like the ending

@@thepunisherclub6442 I thought it fit better with Dean's character to be having a conversation and reunion quietly with Bobby over a beer then go for a drive especially when leaving Sam was still so fresh for him. Some huge, loud reunion with anyone and everyone just wouldn't have fit IMO.

To me I felt like that ending wasn't the way to say good bye to someone who was a good hero , he died alot of times and always came back,so that ending killed us all , yes us the fans.

Come on, Dean died because of a f*cking rusty nail ! This is not the way he deserved to die. I know it was during the pandemic, so they couldn't end the show like they would have wished to, but it sucks anyway.

It's NOT a nail! It's a REBAR! And they're like 2" in diameter and thick steel. So stop trying to demean his death please. It's not like he went out due to the stupid one armed Stein guy. Not to mention he WAS supposed to die on the floor, but J2 changed it ahead of time and told Bob Singer that they felt Dean had to die standing proudly. So the mechanism was changed to the rebar.

@@huchlvr it doesn't matter if it was a nail, rebar, or a glass d*ldo mounted on the wall. It's the fact that it was a mundane hunt just 6 months after they finally achieved true free will, and Dean deserved to live a long time enjoying that (among other things)

It's called "plot armor". God was no longer writing their story. In actuality they would've died LONG ago if not for Chuck figuring out how to bring them back to complete his story. And Jack said he would not interfere, so no more plot armor.

​@huchlvr they could've made it a whole lot better tbh, like instead of rando vamp getting the jump on Dean and rushing him, Dean sees the vamp trying to rush Sam and gets in the way and gets rammed into the rebar instead or something. There gets the same death but at least saves Sam one last time before the show ends.

@@huchlvr tbh, I hate that "reason" even more than others. THAT diminishes ALL of S&D's accomplishments across the entire 15 sns if it all just boils down to "God made it happen that way for his story"

@@lburns3954 All I have to say if they want to reboot the show they need to bring back Dean for good and have him end up happy with a woman or back together with an old girlfriend for example Lisa and have kids of his own because Dean deserves that, but if they ever reboot the show and don’t do anything like that then the show shouldn’t come back period.

It wasn't my ideal ending, but with the pandemic, I put my big girl panties on and accepted that there were limitations and constraints. Business-wise, they did the best they could in a crap situation. and if that isn't SPN to the core, I don't know what is.

I think it was bad writing and a lazy finale episode. Dean deserved better, after all he has done he deserved a proper end. If the death would be different, better written and satisfactory it would be fine, but they screwed up. I hate that finale
