Those were definitely the days!!! I'm 52 years old now and I remember watching this episode when I was around 8 years old. I want those days back. My daughter sometimes laughs at me when I watch old clips like this. She's 28 and she doesn't know how it was peaceful to live back then. California was California back then before all this social media going on.

Ah yes, I was probably 15-16 years old when this CHiPs show was released. Looking back, kids like me did not realize how good we had it. Of course there were problems with things like inflation, high interest rates, gas prices, etc. A big difference between then and now is back then people tended to have a more relaxed, almost carefree attitude. This is reflected in many TV shows of that era. Today, while many things have improved, people typically are much more serious. There are too few smiling faces.

A few takeaways. This was a time when our streets were clean and safe; people were polite and the police were respected; women were classy and beautiful, and didn't have tattoos or hog rings in their noses; and California was a desirable place to live and raise a family. All is gone now.

Well, of course the key difference was that tax rates for the top 1% were like 70%, not 15% like they are today. As a result, a middle class job was for life and could support a family. You'd be covered in tattoos and piercings too if you felt life would probably end at 50, you had no job security, and you felt you'd never be able to afford a middle class life.

Actually it's the Roller Derby Beach Disco. Much better than figure skating. Wish Tara Lipinski was in there though.
