There must be something wrong with me or I've been hiding under a rock my entire life. I just turned 37 years old love rock and roll and this is the first time I've ever heard this song and I absolutely love it. Matter fact I can't stop putting the song on repeat. Seriously I must have been sheltered or something I have no idea how I have never ever heard of this song but I'm so grateful I've got turned on to it.

Then you must have never been listening to that good old Psychadelic Funk, Blues, R&B, Soul music produced by Black people. Rock & Roll's roots were born there. Glad you found the TRUTH lol. Check out Ernie Isley of the Isley Bros. Hendrix briefly played with them in the 60s.

Not sure of your race and perhaps that should not matter but it does. The "whites" claimed Rock and Roll as theirs just like they try to and claim everything else as their invention. Do some research!!!! Perhaps start with Muddy Waters. That will lead you in many directions to the truth.
@jehjeh007
@jehjeh007 4 жыл бұрын
@@gwenrenee8641 Sister Rosetta Tharpe invented Rock N Roll (but SHE NEVER call it that though everyone kept screaming at her that she changed America with her Gospel Music "electric fiddlin/diddlin" (her words)), Muddy and the rest have admitted it. Other Baptist church took up her practice of bringing electric guitars into the chorus causing church goers to celebrate to the Lord in the pews like never before with the "spirit" it created. Sometimes clean tone, most time Heavy distortion (aka Heavy Metal sound). Elvis Presley (and 2 other white friends) secretly attended one of those services and got to moving like he never had before, thus started playing guitar and "grinding", a move he saw at that very church. Now a brother named Charlie Christian "Something" or another from Texas played the first electric guitar invented by Gibson created the finger tapping now known by Eddie Van Halen. Rosetta played a clean tone most times, while Charlie would put heavy distortion into his chops. A SISTA INVENTED ROCK N ROLL but she only (rumored) called it that on her death bed with a "I guess I did". White people always trying to steal stuff, change history and lie lie lie on Blacks.

I remember jamming with a group of friends and at a point it was my turn to lead off the next jam (I was on bass), so I tell one of the guitarists to play this. He didn't know it, I gave him the basic progression)... he looks at me (a bit disappointed in the simplicity) and says 'that's it?' I look at him with a smile and said 'yeah'. A couple of minutes later everyone in the room 'got it' and it was one of the most memorable moments i've ever had jamming. RIP Mr. Hazel

Uttley incredible how you can take something so simple, four chords and basically nothing more than an Em scale and turn it into this!. Goes to show music doesn't have to be overly complicated or that you need to know music theory to degree level to create brilliant works.

@@BurnleyNuts when we say "your child" we're talking about you, your younger parts. They're all younger, your younger parts, fragmented, some want to drink, some want to lead, and, if you can integrate them into you, your loving parent, then they are heard and seen, no longer do you necessarily need to be lead around by them, their avoidance, their drug use, you acknowledge their rage and thank them for protecting you when they were young. Now, you lead, you hold them, with love, no judgment. They come home, you are whole, like never before. I think maybe, that's what he might have said, in one line.

I discovered the song in 2018, then stopped listening to it for the most part. In 2020, my mom died, and that was quite a difficult thing to deal with. One of the ways I coped was by walking around the base at night listening to Maggot Brain on repeat. Didn’t really know why it helped, but it did. In 2022, I learned that George Clinton said “play like your mama just died,” and I was blown away. Work of genius.

I think Mike started playing Maggot Brain after Eddie passed away. I saw them in concert many many times in the late 70’s, and grew up listening to them because of my older brothers. My brother has the original vinyl. I still love this song, makes me have chills. Btw this is Michael Hampton playing not George. I saw Mike play this song many times. To my knowledge George never played an instrument. Apologies if I read your comment wrong.
