That's why he said in the interview. And when a legendary singer like Arijit said this about another legendary singer Sonu Nigam, it matters a lot. If Sonu Nigam is lord of chords then Arijit Singh is king of playback singing, so his opinion matters. Jubin and Armaan don't have much music knowledge.
