I looked up why it looks different and what I read is it’s partially the director and they went with more of a magical story and less about love, friendship and learning a lesson.

I don't know who designed the sets..but..those were some of the ugliest paintings I've ever seen especially for a character who sold $10,000 on her opening night...really really bad set design...
