I think his stint as GM of the Lakers has tarnished his reputation somewhat undeservedly. Most people who have grown up watching the current generation of NBA players don't fully appreciate just how good Magic was as a point guard. He was essentially Ben Simmons x10. I believe that if he had not had the tragedy that unfurled in the early 90s, then the Bulls would have been seriously challenged during their first three peat.

strawsparky33 nothing has "cured" it. His advantage is that he apparently has a single copy of a mutated gene that gives him partial immunity to HIV. If he'd had two copies he'd have been fully immune, but with one he was unlucky to catch it in the first place but it meant that although meds weren't as good back then, they didn't need to be. So he survived long enough for medication to improve. That's why he's never been sick or looked remotely ill....he announced he'd caught it a couple of weeks before Freddie Mercury, who also had lots of money, died from AIDS. Freddie just didn't have the genetic anomaly and had probably caught it ten years earlier than Magic. Lots of rich people died...lots of normal, poor people lived and some were diagnosed years before Magic. Most will have been the same, with partial immunity.

+redweweew It's amazing to think that some of the greatest players of all time can't understand how amazing steph curry is. just goes to show there will never be another Curry. GOAT. See your statement is sort of jumping to conclusions because you can replace Jordan with several different names (Bird, Chamberlain, Kareem, Stockton, Kobe, James etc...) which means Magic saying it about Jordan does not prove that there will never be another Jordan or that he is the greatest of all time. My point being, sure Jordan may be the GOAT but this story doesn't mean much when it comes to that argument. Great players are impressed by other great players all the time...probably an exaggerated story anyway.
@ndotlace8 жыл бұрын
+9419cmcc I disagree... what MJ could do is insane to inhuman levels. the story probably isn't exaggerated just because the average person overlooks how physically powerful athletes like Michael Jordan are. The chance of another curry is much higher than anyone who can compete with MJ. remember that he schooled the top high school players while he was in his mid 40s

My dad took me to watch MJ Rodman and Pippen play in 1996 I am a big talker I love conversation I always have. My Dad always said he knew I was in awe bc I didn’t say a word I just watched with my mouth open. That trio was just unstoppable. I feel so blessed to have witnessed them play.

You know MJ is the GOAT when a legendary great like Magic talks about MJ's greatness with full enthusiasm and as if like MJ is his hero. Like you know you're the greatest of all time when legends talks about your legend. MJ never claimed he is THE GOAT but you can tell he is, cause legends keep telling us he is. As for LeBron and Kobe? They claim to be the greatest but they still look up to MJ, so it doesn't make anh sense to claim you're the greatest yet you look up to MJ and you're the GOAT because you were inspired by MJ. It's like you say you're the only god but it happened because a god made you a god. So yeah no need for debate. MJ THE GOAT, ALL THE WAY. Lebron may surpass him, Kobe could have, other players may do it one day but the measuring to be a damn hell of a great happened because of MJ he is the measuring stick, he is the corner stone of the NBA, the foundation. He's like The Undertaker of WWE many may surpass him in championships, wins and all but nothing can compare to his greatness. MJ is that damn great

That’s not true, Michael Jordan has said “hey kid, you may be the best high school player, but I’m the greatest ever, and don’t you ever forget that” or something before :) They’re all truly amazing and blessed human beings that should inspire us instead of being used in comparison games :)

Alright guys I watched magic in his prime! He is arguably the greatest player ever! He never got to face MJ again because of his hiv! Magic lost to Bird the first time they met in the finals but beat him the next couple of times though! Magic may respect MJ but he definitely thought he could beat him! Magic Is the most complete player I've ever seen! He could play every position on the floor! Could MJ play center? I doubt it! Don't get me wrong now, I love MJ! I just hate when people fail to realize how great magic was!
@TheNeeks68 жыл бұрын
Most complete? He could play any position on the floor? Except on the flip-side, where he wasn't great at defending any position on the floor, certainly not at PG.
@dweezy41038 жыл бұрын
Nikko N mj was not a bad defender lol idk what youre talkin about. Guarding all 5 positions, yea probably not lol but he was a good defender. He has the awards and spg and bpg to prove it

Wow, the brainwashing by the media, is complete. Magic kisses his ass because it is a league wide unwritten rule. The players who want to stay relevant and popular with the NBA and the players union have to pump up the legend of MJ. Any player that ever that ever slights MJ does not get hired on a major network or by the NBA. They will only get an "inside" job if they follow script. David Stern, an attorney, a billionaire attorney at that still has much political power. Stern, NBA, NBC, NIKE, etc make billions every year with the "Jordan Brand". John Salley was banned for almost 3 years because he said MJ was one of the best but not THE best. Dr. J has basically been wiped out from the mainstream because he said Kareem was the best. Dr. J. was as popular as MJ at one point many years ago. All the broadcasters, Van Gundy, Miller, Jackson etc kiss MJ's ass about 20x a a game for no reason other than his name brings in money. Every time they say his name, a cash register rings.

Please watch as many games as you can. Please count how many times he committed an offensive foul that wasn't called. Please count how many times he went to the foul line on a BS call. Please count how many times he traveled. Please count how many times he palmed/carried the ball. Please count how many times the refs would mysteriously make a call that would favor the Bulls at the end of a game. Please count how many times he was credited with an assist when he clearly didn't deserve it.Please watch how it was Pippen who guarded the opposing team's best offensive player. Please watch how the games broadcast by NBC clearly favor him and the Bulls as compared to other networks.

No. Just watch for yourself. Fair is fair. Stern forced Earl Strom (head of the refs union) and a few other old time refs to retire because they couldn't be bought. The younger refs sold out (one of them went to jail for fixing games). He (Stern) forced the Pistons to release Mahorn and then he (Stern) signed a contract with NBC. Next thing you know MJ is being called the GOAT. That was NEVER said until this point in time. Low and behold MJ wins next 3 titles. He never won until then. Watch the games, he was enhanced and protected by the "shield" more than any player. MJ had severe ties to organized crime and gambling. That helped the Bulls win as well. PLEASE watch the games and read more about all of this stuff. Make up your OWN mind, don't be influenced by the media!
