This is a video I shot of DaVinci's Notebook performing one of their best original songs, "Magic Kingdom in the Sky." Performed at Lubber Run Park in Arlington, VA, DaVinci's Notebook was in front of an excited hometown crowd, so the group was on its most witty behavior. These four guys have enough energy for 10 groups and they really bounce around on this one.
From left to right in this video, DVN is: Storm DiConstanzo, Paul Sabourin, Richard Hsu and Bernie Muller-Thym. Paul is the lead singer (and primary composer) for this song. DVN is introduced by two of the members of the preceding musical act, Fourth Avenue.

You're welcome. DVN broke up before it became common to record everything with a cell phone, so it was a gift to posterity to record these guys on a decent standard-definition camcorder. I can do a lot better today, but that was about as good as it got for an audience member's recording in 2003.

@Droopy Ring Master In 2003 or 2004, I think. Probably within a year or so of recording this video.

@Droopy Ring Master No, I really don't know why the group broke up. Two of them (Paul and Storm) continued to perform together, as "Paul & Storm." I saw them perform once or twice and they were good, but DaVinci's Notebook had a different energy.

In 1997, the Southern Baptist leadership voted to to boycott Disney due to its "anti-Christian and anti-family direction." You can read more about it here: www.cnn.com/US/9706/18/baptists.disney/

I love how fluid they are, seamlessly switching from song to comedy and back. Great performance!

Holy shit. The moment you realise they're singing about Disney World. This is very clever.

Yes, DVN did excellent original songs. All four wrote songs, but Paul Sabourin (who sings lead in this song) was outstanding.

I'm pretty sure that even the people who run Disney appreciate this song. It's hard not to appreciate great art.

Yes, Davinci's Notebook broke up in 2004, but have played a couple shows together since. Two of the members (Paul and Storm) still perform under the name... Paul and Storm. And they still do some great songs, although mostly not a cappella.

May have broken up, but they did do several live performances for the Bob and Tom radio show around 2007 and onward.

Thank -god- Mickey for this upload! Even though the album's joke "we'll redo that ending" is funny, I'm pretty sure they ended the song properly in all live performances, so it's nice to see that preserved

It wouldn't surprise me if DVN screwed up the ending on the studio recording of this song deliberately. That's just the sort of twist the guys would have done. I must have seen them 20 times before they broke up, and they were the most entertaining act I ever saw. This video gives you a taste of just how entertaining they were.

I agree. I cut the video off quickly at the end, but the audience absolutely roared its approval for this song, something no other act got that night.

That's the sign of a great song. It's a satire about Disney World, but its genius is that it's a little hard to tell where the satire stops and the admiration begins. And maybe it's not so much about Disney World as it is about the people who go to Disney World with certain expectations. Overall, I think it hits its target perfectly. Absolutely brilliant.

@onekidonedream No. The four DVN members you see on stage are Greg (Storm) DiConstanzo, Paul Sabourin, Richard Hsu and Bernie Muller-Thym. It's possible that one of the two members of Fourth Avenue (who introduce DVN at the beginning of the video) is Tommy Jomisko, but I didn't get their names.

Yes, DVN broke up not long after this video was shot in 2003. However, two of them still perform under the name Paul & Storm. The generally don't do a cappella, but they're still pretty funny. The entire group did get back together for at least one paid performance, but DVN is considered to be broken up.

You're kidding, right? I probably saw DVN 20 times, and they were the funniest stage act I ever saw. They were like watching four comedians on stage at the same time. If you've never seen them, you have no idea just how funny and entertaining they were, although this video gives you a taste.
