Nice. I appreciate all of your skill & interest. However I suggest not to deviate from the original Raga, Thala because the pancharatna kritis, the carnatic music itself are very precious gems gifted by our Saints & Gurus. These songs are non copyrighted pure Bakthi ones and therefore originality shall be maintained at any cost and it is my thought that, it is both musicians & carnatic music lovers responsibility to pass it across generation after generations on an 'as is basis'. Lets all be reminded that old is gold, the more the ancientness (in anything in this world) the more its value.

This is a very narrow view; I am not saying it is wrong, but if you want to broaden the audience and bring in younger people who have the capacity to appreciate classical music, then improvisation is one way of doing it. Which is what Maalavika is attempting. It requires guts. After all Music is all about sweetness to the ears. It is simply a set of physical vibrations that reach our eardrums; from those vibrations we make the emotional map of our lives. Yet, as generations pass, the style and manner of those maps do change.

Music as an art should be allowed experimentation without disturbing the spirit. Essentially Carnatic music is in the praise of the Divine Entities. Thus, we need to strike a balance.

Great work. Understand that it dilutes the original version. But in Kali Yuga, even thinking about divine is considered a gift. Non Carnatic ppl like me it's the gift to enjoy this song In different delivery but ppl who understands Carnatic music may be bit disappointed in some way looking at some of the comments. I would suggest that team can atleast put some courtesy message at the start of end of the music that they altered the original version just to satisfy everyone and respect the original

Nice rendition 🎉.Whole team effort 👌. But is it right to sing " Endaro Mahanubhavulu " as " Endaro Mahanu Bhavulu ".A slight difference in sahithyam the whole meaning is lost right?? Mahanubhavulu whole is one word and should be sung whithout breaking in between..

But for one different accompaniment, i didn't see any departure from the original. The composition was sung as in the orginal. The only grouse I have is that the saahitya uccharanam was up the gum tree in many places where the syllable in the words were broken leading to changing of the meaning....chuukumo lakuti pili.... Instead of saying chukku mulagu thippili......ma..haanubhavilu😮

Contrary to the run of many comments, I feel that,but for the initial hijacking of the Alapana to strong shades of Hindolam by the violinist, the team specially the vocalist and the violinist stuck to the rules of Shri raga. If you want to feel the respect for ‘the Great’ as intended by the saint,you can still do so,! The drumming effect of the drum right on your skeletal frame is as intended in this fusion. Good teamwork.

I was sceptical too but this is one of the better fusion and she has pretty much stuck to the tradition. Swamy Dhayanda Saraswathi ji used to say about fusion music” better go along with it , otherwise only you will be left behind “ ! We can have BOTH traditional and fusion ! Thanks 🙏

Tradition is the Basis....innovation with Tradition intact is what's going to sustain. If ones not open for high quality innovation We R Going to get STUCK badly.We will loose our relevance. As far as quality of innovation is concerned we can many a times easily make out which is high quality innovotion. LETS GET STUCK. The whole cosmos is constantly under motion.This is the bottom line.

I don’t know how I ended up here as an Englishman but this is utterly superb. The chap in the red top, I’m afraid I don’t know the name of the instrument, but what a truly beautiful, heartwrenching sound. It’s the sound of heartbreak, betrayal, loss, grief, and it hits you right in the gut.

Its just an electric violin, custom made probably. A violin has been used as a 'accompaniment' instrument since the 19th century. Google 'carnatic katcheri' for more.
