@@Jaayiz messi got easier conditions to do it. He constantly played on carpets where he knew exactly how the Ball would behave. Maradona dribbled on pitches full of holes where the Ball bounced each few metres as against England in 1986. Messi was able to play simple gap Passes because the defense of his opponents stood mostly high compared to the 80s and in one line due to the offside rule change. In Maradonas time gap passing was harder because all defense lines stood deep in their half, manmarking for 90 min blocked each of Maradonas pass options while Messis teammates could move freely and create space. Also the sweeper in the 80s Interrupted a lot of gap Passes since he was behind the defense line. As for Shooting...Maradona scored goals with pin point shoots from 40m. There is a Video here on KZbin where Maradona hit the post in a training Session multiple times outside the box on purpose. And Messi was bad at taking freekicks until Maradona became his Coach and Showed him how to take them. Also messi played with lighter balls which tend to have a huge curve and r waterproof. Maradona played with hard leather balls which could get heavy by Rain.

Defenders hacked and stamped on his feet to slow him down. He played in a decent, but not, best club teams. He was instrumental in winning the world Cup with Agentina. Maradona takes the best of Messi and Ronaldhino and adds the ability to play witht he same poise on bobble ridden pitches. Ever seen Messi try and dribble on bad pitches? He can't. I remember a Russian side cut up the pitch and Guardiola moaned after the game...

@@omnitheus5442 That's not true at all.. Messi has played on some terrible fields quite a few times and still managed to perform. He obviously had to do that too when he was growing up in Argentina. Have a search for 'Messi bad pitches' on here and you will see a video that's 4 mins 53 seconds showing the evidence of him doing that for Barca. There were a few games where the conditions were virtually unplayable from rain, yet he managed to shine.

Maradona played btw in an era where average goals in seria a were only 1,9 per match, even in la liga of the 80s it was only around 2,2. La liga in messis prime had 2,9 in comparison. Just shows the difference in resistance and how much better defense was back then when defender could do real tackles and rules werent changed to favour attacker. Just pay attention how each teammate of Maradona was manmarked and he caused constantly chaos just by his break throughs

Todays defender are surely not worse, but they are very much hampered. Attacks from behind are no longer allowed and any attack on legs means yellow or red where you could do that consecutive times in the 80s before getting booked. So todays attackers have it a lot easier in spite of some very good defenders.

Thats why u cant compare messi and Maradona by trophies or stats for instance. With the rules of the 80s there would certainly be some potential Legend defender in todays football but since they r too restricted nowadays, that wont happen anymore. Legend defender like maldini or baresi r Legends because they were known to be very aggressive in 1 on 1's. Today it all about scoring goals, thats why defender and midfielder dont get that much acknowledged, defender even less. Until mid 00s there were at least 3-4 defender or midfielder per decade which won the ballon dor. When rodri gets a deserved one people Keep moaning because of vini with better stats. Football devolved a lot in my opinion

In Modern football if you want a player like him to be back again then you need the ball to have way more friction on grass so that its doesnt fly that much and gives eniugh time for genius creativity. No player in the entire history of the game of football could do what Diego Maradona was capable of doing with the ball at his feet. His running, passing, turning, dribbling and vision were unique as was his talent. This explains why when he died in 2020 a huge mural of Maradona was erected above one of the widest and busiest avenues in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. When he signed for the Italian club Napoli they immediately one their first ever Serie A Italian league title and another 2 years later. There is a colossal amount of Maradona graffiti scrawled over the place in Buenos Aires and Naples, Italy. Some of the graffiti is very large and very artistic. This explains why even after his death he is still idolised and worshipped like a God. That he was the greatest footballer of all time is completely & utterly beyond question.

@@Peacher_man because maradona did it more or less alone, Messi was surrounded by superstars that made it easy for him, also the pitches were horrendous on some occasions whereas Messi was playing on pitches like carpet, maradona was also technically better & was often targeted & received leg breaking tackles which nearly ended his career thx to the Butcher of Bilboa,Messi was protected, maradona went to unfashionable & struggling Napoli with average players & won them there first ever Scudetto then followed that by winning 4 times in a row along with many other cups hence the reason in Napoli even today he is respected like a GOD, Messi although technically similar & most like him was still not even close, maradona was on a different level 🇬🇧⚒

For example, what often isn't mentioned in regards to Napoli is that they signed Maradona for a world record fee, and brought in many players to improve their team. This included the likes of Ciro Ferrara, Garella (who was the starting keeper when Verona won the title) Bagni from Inter, Giordano, Italian internationals De Napoli and Bagni. Then after their first title win they signed Brazilian internationals Careca and Alemao, who were key in their second title and UEFA cup win. As much as he was the biggest factor for them, these signings improved the side around him a lot. Saying he was technically better is purely subjective. Both are incredible in that respect. However, a key aspect Messi does have more so than Maradona is he's a more consistent matchwinner and goalscorer. He also has more accuracy and consistency with his shots. That extra dimension as one of the best goalscorers ever is something Maradona lacked, even though of course he played in a deeper role.

@@Peacher_man yes messi was a front man maradona was midfield & was more in defence also helping out, you have to also consider the pitches in maradona's day were terrible, watching vids you can see the ball bobbing everywhere, there like carpets today, messi never got abused like maradona if he did it would of affected his game for sure, maradona was always expecting a bad tackle but regardless he just played keep ball, messi was the closest to maradona technically but in my opinion given the facts i spoke about maradona was better, i know for a fact that messi would of trained or been trained to be the new maradona & to replace him, but not quite
