y'know how people use the phrase "shrimp colors" to refer to colors that are outside the range of human vision, and how that's occasionally been extended to "shrimp problems" "shrimp emotions" as anything from the realm of shrimps that's incomprehensible to the human mind (or more vaguely, just beyond human comprehension)? your use of "magic" in the title and the slow artistic process here transforming our human plastic and metal into an extremely shrimp-like thing evokes (in me, at least) some kind of mythic envoy to the world of shrimps. .. I like the stripey legs :)
@shetiesflies7 ай бұрын
I dig this so much! I can’t take credit for the name of the pattern, but I love that the result was evocative and transported you. This is often how I feel at the vise. World of shrimps sounds like a sweet parallel reality just outside our human perception! Also, the stripy legs are one of my favorite touches. Glad you enjoyed!!

You can extend the life of your scissors by putting a kink in the lead and "helicoptering" the lead tag end, and it will snap free at the kink instead of having to cut it with your scissors.

Is there any technique to bend hooks like this one?

It would be difficult but possible. You’d likely have to heat the hook, but then risk ruining the temper and having the hook shatter, especially with a big bite.

A local fly shop is typically my first recommendation because they’re typically a passionate tier there to help a beginner, and you can also have great luck online at a number of retailers like Orvis, Bass Pro, and even Amazon. Some materials are more readily available on EBay 😊
