What I like is how MS took the time to make Hoist slightly bulkier and a bit shorter than Trailbreaker to reflect his more toy accurate G1 cartoon look wheres Trailbreaker had a lot more liberty in his form vs. his toy. Subtle details like this, along with how smooth and clean the toy is draws me to MS.

The arms doesn't need to be as difficult as Bobby showed. He could just raise the arms up before rotating the shoulders and saved himself a whole lot of trouble. Also, he has an an crunch, it has a joint that let's the hips move forward while still being attached to the hood.

I decided to finally sample one of these legends scale third-party toys, the New Age Barricade. Even knowing the dimensions and general scale I was still not prepared for small this class of toy is. They are about as good as a Transformer at that size can be made, but I still think they cost too much. Still, kudos to the people photographing these toy for promo shots, because they make them look great.

Ear cleaner 😂 MS usually have those kinda pastel/matte colors. If they use more brilliant plastic (not necessarily all painted), they would blend better with the other legends.

Good review! My guess is the awkwardness is the result of it being an extensive retool of their Trailbreaker, rather than a fresh mold. A lot of "making it work" with the new transformation on the old frame. Still looks worth it tho, and truth be told the awkwardness feels in keeping with Hoists' awkward-looking robot mode.

This is not a retool of the trailbreaker, it shares no parts from the original, nor does it even transform in the same way. This is a Sunstreaker and Sideswipe situation, where the alt modes are similar but they're totally different robots.

I feel I need to share my experience of this figure. It came with two left wings. This is not the first time I've had a mis-assembled figure from Magic Square. Critically, in this case, the wrong wing was also missing its paint apps. To me, that suggests that the person applying the paint apps spotted the mistake and didn't care - leaving the apps off to make the mistake less obvious. Legends collecting has really rejuvenated my interest in G1 collecting and Magic Square are a big part of that but they're not selling at Hot Soldiers' price point; they're priced to run with the big dogs - Newage, IF, etc... I've never had a QC issues with any other legends company - including Hot Soldiers who sell at a significantly lower price point. MS need to up their game.

I don t collect legends, but hoist was a difficult masterpiece to capture well imho, so seeing it well done (the sculpt) in legends class is all the more amazing! If this was legends quality a few years ago i didn't need to go mp scale i think👍🏼
